This role oversees day-to-day fleet operations, supports a network of agency partners and van operators, and ensures efficient execution of transportation services.\nThis position is well suited for a leader who enjoys balancing people leadership, operational strategy, and business performance. Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, a focus on continuous improvement, and the ability to drive results across a complex transportation network.\nWhat You'll Do\nLead and develop the Fleet Operations team, providing coaching, training, and performance management.\nDrive operational excellence by identifying process improvements and implementing best practices.\nMonitor operational and financial performance, including revenue, profit margins, budgets, and key performance indicators.\nOptimize fleet utilization to maximize efficiency and profitability.\nOversee van operator recruitment, retention, qualifications, and operational support.\nPartner with agency stakeholders to manage transportation orders and support service execution.\nCollaborate with planners, agents, van operators, and internal teams to resolve operational issues and improve results.\nSupport customer implementations, account management activities, and ongoing service needs.\nMonitor accounts receivable activity and assist in maintaining strong financial performance.\nParticipate in customer and provider business reviews and support strategic growth initiatives.\nServe as a liaison between UniGroup business units, agency partners, and other key stakeholders.\nSupport additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.\nWhat We're Looking For\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.\nThree to five years of transportation, logistics, fleet operations, or related industry experience.\nExperience leading teams, coordinating operations, or managing cross-functional initiatives.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.\nExcellent communication and relationship-building skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications.\nPreferred Skills and Experience\nExperience managing transportation, fleet, or logistics operations.\nPrior leadership or people management experience.\nExperience with financial planning, budgeting, P&L management, or performance metrics.\nFamiliarity with fleet utilization, capacity planning, and operational optimization.\nExperience working with agent networks, service providers, or transportation stakeholders.\nKnowledge of household goods, moving, transportation, or logistics industries.\nHow You'll Be Successful\nTop performers in this role tend to be:\nResults-oriented leaders who drive operational and financial performance.\nStrong communicators who build trust with employees, agency partners, and customers.\nStrategic thinkers who identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery.\nRelationship-builders who collaborate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders.\nProblem-solvers who can navigate operational challenges and deliver practical solutions.\nCoaches who develop talent, support team growth, and foster accountability.\nAdaptable professionals who thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.\nCustomer-focused leaders who prioritize service excellence while achieving business objectives.\nAbout UniGroup\nUniGroup is a transportation cooperative that owns and supports the United Van Lines and Mayflower brands.
