We want you to help us to understand our people data that describes our research culture and environment. We want you to use that data to help us understand what is really happening rather than what we think might be happening. And we want you to show us, with the data, how the research culture we are building can be evidenced.\n\nThis role sits in a unique place in the University of Bath. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Workforce Development in the HR department, you will have full access to all our people data. You will also be embedded in the virtual team that is iteratively developing the People, Culture and Environment statement for our REF 2029 submission. This is the primary focus of your time with us.\n\n…and make a difference for the people you will work with.\n\nWe know that we have weaknesses in our data and that we need to develop our ability to move from report generation to developing insights. The second part of your role will be to act as a subject matter expert, supporting your colleagues in the HR Management Information Team in both the development and delivery of the actions that will improve our data quality, and to acquire further confidence and expertise in the use of Power BI to create insights.\n\nAbout the Workforce Development at the University of Bath\n\nWorkforce Development sits within the wider HR Department and comprises specialist teams focused on People Consultancy, Reward, Academic Promotion and HR Management Information. You will be comfortable working with large and complex datasets, turning information into clear insights that support decision-making and continuous improvement.\n\nYou will bring:\n\nA degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.\n\nAdvanced Excel skills, including data manipulation, analysis and reporting.\n\nExperience of using Power BI (or similar business intelligence tools) to develop reports, dashboards and visualisations.\n\nExperience of analysing and interpreting data to identify trends, patterns and opportunities for improvement.\n\nThe ability to present complex information in a clear and accessible way for a range of audiences.\n\nStrong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to data quality and accuracy.\n\nExperience of working with multiple data sources and managing large datasets.\n\nExcellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.\n\nThe ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs to agreed timescales.\n\nA commitment to collaborative working and continuous learning.\n\nFurther Information \n\nThis role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) fixed term basis with an expected end date of 31/07/2029.\n£39,560 to £46,970.
