The Network & Data Centres Team plays a vital role in deploying and maintaining a diverse and complex digital environment that supports thousands of students, researchers and staff.\n\nAs we are investing in our people, technologies and services, you're looking to build on your existing experience or take the next step in your career - here you'll have the opportunity to develop your expertise within a supportive, collaborative and forward-thinking team.\n\nAbout the Team\n\nAs part of the Network & Data Centres Team within IT Services, you will report to the Network Engineer - Operations Coordinator and will help operate and maintain our campus network and data centres which includes:\n\n8,000 network devices, including more than 5,000 wifi access points\n\n70,000 wired outlets and over 25,000 concurrent wifi connections at peak (and growing)\n\nMore than 300 wiring centres, connected by many kilometres of optical fibre infrastructure\n\nTwo on campus data centres, hosting business critical platforms and services\n\nWe are undertaking an ambitious modernisation programme for our data centres and campus network. Could you play a leading role in helping us realise that ambition?\n\nWhat You'll Be Doing\n\nYour responsibilities will include:\n\nDeploying and maintaining our campus-wide network and data centre infrastructure\n\nWorking closely with other teams in IT Services and from across the wider University\n\nDeveloping and nurturing relationships with strategic external delivery partners\n\nLeading on the operational activities in our campus data centres\n\nProviding technical guidance and advice to colleagues and stakeholders.\n\nMaintaining accurate documentation, standards and operational processes.\n\nAbout You\n\nWe're looking for someone who is enthusiastic about delivering high quality, customer focussed network services whilst leading the operational activities in our data centres.\n\nYou will be able to demonstrate:\n\nA sound understanding of network technology and principles, alongside data centre operations.\n\nExperience supporting or contributing to technology-based projects, services or change initiatives.\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data.\n\nAn ability to respond to a changing environment.\n\nA Level 3 qualification (or equivalent professional experience).\n\nWhat Will Make You Successful\n\nYou'll thrive in this role if you are:\n\nCurious and eager to develop your network related expertise.\n\nCollaborative and supportive in your approach to working with others.\n\nCommitted to delivering high-quality services and positive outcomes.\n\nPassionate about improving processes and finding better ways of working.\n\nDedicated to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion within the workplace.\n\nWhy Join Us?\n\nThis is an opportunity to develop your networking career within a complex and intellectually stimulating environment.
