NPO oversees train scheduled and strategic planning for crews, locomotives, railcars, track, and terminals, as well as managing key performance indicators (KPIs) and evaluations. As part of the Operations Evaluation team, you'll contribute to projects that serve a wide range of stakeholders including Operating, Tech, Marketing & Sales, Finance, Law, executive leadership and regulators. These projects include developing and maintaining performance metrics, regulatory reporting, strategic initiatives, recurring updates, and annual goal setting.\nAs an intern, you'll gain hands-on experience in data analytics and project management. You'll regularly collaborate with business partners and leadership, build self-service reports and visualizations, answer metric-related questions, and perform ad-hoc analyses to support decision making.\nThe position will be administered as a year-round internship at Union Pacific's headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. The work schedule is flexible and can be designed to accommodate the course commitments of the successful candidate. A flexible work schedule includes up to 40 hours per week available during the summer months and an average of 15-20 hours per week available during the academic year.\nThe estimated wage for this position is between $21.00-$25.00 per hour. Final rate of pay will be based on several factors including year of study, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.\nAccountabilities\nLearn and perform core business processes and systems used in Network Planning & Operations\nAssist in creating self-service dashboards, visualizations, and performance metrics\nPerform ad-hoc analyses and support decision-making through data-driven insights\nProvide operational support to department business group managers\nBuild and strengthen a network of professional contacts within departments and across the company\nAssist with project management for various company initiatives and special projects\nPerform other duties as assigned\nQualifications - Required\nCollege credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate degree\nProficient verbal and written communication skills\nBasic organization, prioritization and time/project management skills\nQualifications - Preferred\nCurrently pursuing a degree in a related field such as mathematics, computer science, business analytics, finance, operations research, supply chain, data science or rail transportation engineering\nGPA of 3.0 or higher\nFamiliarity with tools like Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL, Tableau, or Power BI\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to ask questions and learn\nAbility to think critically, evaluate various options and make decisions\nStrong written and verbal communication skills \nPhysical and Mental Job Requirements\nThis position requires extended periods of sitting and extended hours in front of
