To learn more about Union Settlement, visit www.unionsettlement.org\nPosition: Meals on Wheels Driver\nDepartment: Aging, Health, & Wellness Services\nReports to: Meals on Wheels Coordinator\nHours: Part-Time; M-F 9:00am - 3:30pm\nSalary: $17.00 per hour\nFLSA: Non-Exempt\nPosition Summary:\nThe Meals on Wheels (MOW) Driver will primarily be responsible for delivering meals to homebound clients.\nResponsibilities :\nDeliver meals to homebound clients on a daily basis. \nUse appropriate heating and cooling devices when packing meals. \nPackage meals into hot and cold containers each day for delivery. \nMaintain accurate daily route sheet. \nFollow agency protocol and procedure to report any difficulty with meal delivery (i.e. client not home, not answering door) or changes in client status (i.e. slurred speech, deterioration in client appearance, confusion). \nFollow agency protocol and procedure to report any observable issues at the clients’ homes (visible tampering with door or locks). \nFollow agency protocol and procedure to report any information the client provides regarding planned absences (hospital stays, vacations, etc.) that would prevent the client from being home to receive his or her meal. \nReport any problems with the assigned vehicle to the MOW Coordinator immediately. \nClean and sanitize all delivery bags, boxes, holding containers and truck compartments daily \nAssist with kitchen and/or other program duties as assigned by the MOW Coordinator, the Deputy Director of Senior Services, or the Director of Senior Services. \nQualifications:\nHigh school diploma or GED. \nValid license to operate a vehicle in New York State. \nAt minimum three years experience operating a vehicle. \nNo convictions for driving while intoxicated in the prior 2 years. \nNo more than one moving violation within the prior 2 years. \nEnglish speaking and writing proficiency; Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. \nAbility to lift and carry heavy objects (30+ pounds), as well as walk to deliver meals daily.\nGood organizational ability, time management, and interpersonal skills (ability to connect with clients and work with a team) \nKnowledge of and desire to work with aging populations \nCOR E CO M P E T E N C IE S \n\nLeading Others:Createsa senseof urgencythroughout the organization on the importance of achievingoutcomes.
