Unisys is an American information technology company formed in 1986 by the merger of Burroughs and Sperry, two of the earliest computer manufacturers, and it still supports the ClearPath mainframe line descended from those machines. Its modern business is built around digital workplace services, cloud and infrastructure management, application modernisation and a logistics software business, sold largely to government agencies, banks, airlines and transport operators that run long-lived critical systems. Headquartered in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it carries a substantial legacy pension obligation alongside its services operations.

About the Role

The Implementation Knowledge Manager plays a critical role during the transition of new client services into the organization. Acting as the central coordinator for knowledge transfer activities, this position ensures that all operational, technical, and process-related knowledge is effectively captured, documented, and transferred from incumbent teams to delivery teams.

Working closely with clients, incumbent providers, operational teams, and leadership stakeholders, the role focuses on identifying knowledge gaps, tracking readiness, and supporting a smooth service transition. Once the implementation phase is completed and the service reaches business-as-usual operations, ownership is handed over to the ongoing Knowledge Management team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead knowledge transfer and knowledge management activities during client implementations and service transitions.
  • Coordinate with clients, incumbent providers, and internal teams to gather, validate, and document critical operational knowledge.
  • Identify knowledge gaps, risks, and transition dependencies, and drive appropriate mitigation actions.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge transfer plans, schedules, and tracking mechanisms.
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions, workshops, and handover activities between stakeholders.
  • Monitor transition readiness and provide regular status updates to project teams, management, and clients.
  • Establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and accessible to operational teams before service go-live.
  • Support operational readiness activities and verify that required knowledge has been successfully transferred.
  • Work closely with delivery, service management, and operational teams to ensure a seamless transition into steady-state operations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to knowledge transfer, transition, and onboarding processes.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively at multiple organizational levels.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience coordinating activities across multiple teams and managing competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on identifying and addressing knowledge gaps.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in creating, maintaining, and managing documentation and knowledge repositories.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a global and cross-functional environment.
  • Familiarity with IT service management or transition processes would be considered an advantage.
