That background also supports establishing and maintaining security and integrity controls, designing and building relational databases, and working with software developers and data users to recommend appropriate database solutions.\nCore Responsibilities\nLeadership & Strategy\nLeads Business Availability and Disaster Recovery strategy for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database environments across the organization. \nWorks with leadership to define, develop, and recommend database and related data management policies and procedures that support business availability and recovery objectives. \nBusiness Availability Responsibilities\nDrives end-to-end availability, performance monitoring, and capacity planning for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments. \nOptimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, performance, and cost. \nSupports multiple services and databases with diverse concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility of data. \nMonitors and tunes Oracle and SQL Server database performance, including query optimization, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and capacity management to ensure optimal performance and availability. \nDisaster Recovery Responsibilities\nOwns and validates high-availability and disaster recovery configurations, including Oracle Data Guard, RAC, SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), replication, and log shipping, to meet recovery objectives. \nManages database backup / recovery and configures parameters and prototypes designed against logical data models. \nEnsures Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server disaster recovery environments are installed, configured, and maintained in alignment with production systems. \nSupporting Database Administration Background\nProvides database administration support (installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting) for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments across production, test, and development systems, as needed to support availability and DR objectives. \nAdvises on automation tooling, scripting platforms, and monitoring systems relevant to Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments. \nAutomates database administration tasks through scripting, scheduling, monitoring, and maintenance processes, and supports policy and procedure improvements affecting availability and reliability. \nCoordinates with data users and stakeholders on recommendations to address availability and reliability issues. \nYou will be successful in this role if you have:\nBA/BS degree and 6-8 years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.\nDeep expertise in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database design, administration, performance tuning, and optimization.\nDemonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects related to Business Availability and Disaster Recovery design.\nExpert-level knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments, including Oracle Data Guard, RAC, SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), replication, log shipping, and backup/recovery strategies.\nExperience installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and administering Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 or later versions.\nExperience with SQL Server security, database backup and recovery, maintenance plans, SQL Server Agent, monitoring tools, and database migration activities.\nExperience with performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and troubleshooting database performance issues in both Oracle and SQL Server environments.\nU.S. Citizenship and U.S. residency required.\nThis role may require access to export-controlled commodities and technology.
