Let’s define tomorrow, together.\nDescription\nAvionics Technician - Job Definition\nAn Avionics Technician is a specialized professional within the aviation maintenance field responsible for inspecting, installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing the electronic systems that support an aircraft’s operation, communication, navigation, and flight control. These systems include radar, GPS, autopilot, flight data recorders, weather radar, communication radios, transponders, and electronic flight instrument displays.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nDiagnose and repair avionics components using test equipment and schematic diagrams. Diagnose Avionics malfunction down to the components level using equipment and schematic design.\nInstall and calibrate communication, navigation, and flight control systems.\nConduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and manufacturer specifications.\nPerform software updates and configuration management on digital systems.\nCollaborate with airframe and powerplant (A&P) technicians to integrate avionics with other aircraft systems.\nDocument maintenance actions, test results, and part replacements in accordance with regulatory and company procedures.\nMaintain knowledge of current avionics technologies and safety procedures.\nSkills and Qualifications\nStrong understanding of electronics, circuit theory, and digital systems.\nProficiency in using avionics testing instruments (e.g. Bonding and mega meters, multimeters).\nAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.\nAttention to detail and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.FAA certification preferred (Repairman Certificate or Airframe/Powerplant License with avionics specialization).\nQualifications\nWhat’s Needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications)\nHigh School Diploma or GED/Educational Equivalent\nFAA A&P License\nValid US Driver's License\nComputer literacy\nMust pass a background check and drug screen upon contingent job offer\nAn eagerness to learn and willingness to train\nThe ability to access elevated aircraft areas via ladders, lift trucks, boom lifts and other devices\nThe strength to lift 50 pounds, physical flexibility and the ability to work in confined spaces\nLegal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship\nThe starting rate for this role is $38.77.\nThis is also a bonus eligible position (i.e. profit sharing).\nWe offer competitive benefits: medical, dental, vision, life, accident & disability, employee assistance program, commuter, paid holidays, paid time off, 401(k), pension and flight privileges (subject to the respective collective bargaining agreement).\nUnited Airlines is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
