This role requires strong hands-on engineering capabilities, a willingness to learn modern design patterns, and the ability to work collaboratively within an Agile team. The Developer will work closely with and receive technical direction from the Senior Developer and play a key role in building and enhancing cloud-native applications that support United’s technology transformation.\nKey responsibilities:\nDevelop and enhance application components using .net (and related frameworks) and modern JavaScript frameworks (React preferred).\nWork on cloud-native development tasks under guidance from Senior Developers and Architects.\nParticipate in designing scalable, modular, and maintainable systems based on established architecture patterns.\nImplement clean, maintainable, and well-tested code aligned with engineering guidelines and best practices.\nAssist in ensuring applications meet required non-functional qualities such as performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile Scrum environments to clarify requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.\nSupport integration across backend APIs, databases, and UI components.\nContribute to DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment processes.\nParticipate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge-sharing sessions with the team.\nKey competencies:\nStrong foundational understanding of application development using .net, and JavaScript frameworks.\nWillingness to adopt platform-thinking and modern engineering patterns.\nAbility to write clean, testable, reliable code.\nOpenness to mentoring and guidance from Senior Developers and Architects.\nGood problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.\nEffective verbal and written communication skills.\nHands-on Technical expertise including:\nBackend: Application development using .net & related frameworks.\nFrontend: Working knowledge of React or similar modern JavaScript frameworks.\nDatabase: Experience with PostgreSQL or any RDBMS; learning exposure to NoSQL is a plus.\nCaching / Messaging: Familiarity with Redis, Kafka, or similar technologies (understanding of at least one).\nCloud: Hands-on development experience on AWS (Lambda/ECS/EKS preferred but may operate under guidance).\nArchitecture: Ability to implement designs that promote maintainability, performance, security, testability, and scalability.\nDevOps: Understanding of CI/CD, automation, and release processes.\nCollaboration:\nWork as part of an Agile Scrum team to deliver user stories.\nPartner with business analysts, QA engineers, and other developers to build functional solutions.\nParticipate in system troubleshooting and problem resolution activities.\nSupport the Sr. Developer while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to understand their requirements and implement solutions.\nSupport development work across time zones, including collaboration with teams in Chicago and Houston.\nSolution Orientation & Result Oriented:\nSupport Senior Developers during solution design and reviews.\nAssist in technical assessments and contribute ideas for improvements.\nProvide input on enhancements and application components as part of project lifecycle activities.\nDeliver assigned components on time and with expected quality.\nEnsure alignment with overall project goals and United’s technical direction.\nTake ownership of assigned development tasks with increasing independence over time.\nThis position is offered on local terms and conditions.
