Collaborates with all levels of United Way Worldwide (“UWW”) Leadership and Executive Management Teams and serves as a member of the Leadership Team for the Finance Group. Responsible for establishing annual work goals and objectives and managing the daily work activities of the assigned Team members within the Accounting Team. Responsible for effectively managing the Team and all UWW resources assigned to the Team.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION\nAn individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:\nDevelops, analyzes and interprets statistical and accounting information in order to assess operating results in terms of performance against budget, cash flow projections and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.\nManages organizational cash flow which includes funding programs on as needed basis.\nCoordinates preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures, provides analysis, and reports variances.\nManages all banking activities and develops relationships within the bank.\nResponsible for generating and reporting monthly financial statements and analysis of financial results with accuracy, timeliness, and transparency.\nResponsible for developing and maintaining effective policies and procedures that reflect well-balanced internal controls.\nOversees the annual independent Audits (consolidated financial statements, Pension Plan and 403(b)) conducted by External Auditors.\nOversees the preparation of the annual 990 tax return and related state returns.\nEngages with the work of the network’s Finance Council.\nParticipates in the creation of network accounting reference guidance in conjunction with the Finance Council.\nDevelops a high-performing Accounting Team.\nSupports the CFO in working with the Finance and Audit Committees of the Board.\nProvides information used in the preparation of grant applications and reporting and other fundraising activities.\nOther duties as assigned.\nJOB REQUIREMENTS\nMinimum requirements include:\nBachelor’s degree in accounting.\nCertified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred.\nPublic accounting experience preferred.\n10 years of expert-level experience in a similar role, preferably with a nonprofit organization.\nFive years of previous people management experience.\nFive to 10 years of experience in a leadership role.\nExperience with government contracting a plus.\nExcellent project management skills.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to effectively communicate financial data.\nAbility to interact with all levels of staff.\nExcellent presentation skills.\nThis job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position.
