Growing together.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nTechnical Leadership: Guide architecture and design decisions, ensuring scalable and maintainable solutions\nTeam Management: Lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering growth, collaboration, and high performance\nProject Delivery: Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met\nStakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business goals\nProcess Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in development processes, tools, and practices (e.g., Agile, DevOps)\nTalent Development: Hire, onboard, and develop engineering talent, promoting a culture of learning and innovation\nBudget & Resource Planning: Manage team budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships when applicable\nRisk Management: Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies early in the development lifecycle\n\nComply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field\n8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role\nTechnical ExpertiseSolid hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot for building scalable backend services\nExperience with Microsoft Azure cloud services including AKS, App Services, and Azure DevOps\nExposure to AI/ML concepts, frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), and integration into enterprise applications\nDeep understanding of Kubernetes for container orchestration and microservices deployment\n\nLeadership & ManagementExperience in Agile/Scrum methodologies and driving engineering excellence\nDemonstrated solid stakeholder management and communication skills\nDemonstrated ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams\n\nArchitecture & DesignExperience designing distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native applications\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code\n\nSoft SkillsDemonstrated strategic thinking with a problem-solving mindset\nDemonstrated ability to mentor and grow engineering talent\nDemonstrated solid collaboration and decision-making skills\n\nAt UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
