As a lead engineer, you will leverage these skills to design and engineer new services and so ware that priori ze scalability, interoperability, and code maintainability.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nDesign, develop, and operate secure cloud platform services and so ware that meet business requirements\nLead a team of cloud platform engineers to ensure that technical solutions align with architectural principles, design pa erns, and enterprise security requirements\nDemonstrate innovation, streamline processes, and reduce technical debt by standardizing pa erns\nAutomate representative tasks (TOIL), monitor applications, simplify work practices, define metrics, and ensure the operational quality of applications\nManage security controls at the platform level to enable secure, efficient, and policy compliant operations\nCollaborate with multiple partner teams to communicate information security guidance and standards and reduce information security risks\nProvide coaching, mentoring, and leadership to the Cloud Platform team to improve their skills and knowledge\nComply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regard to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so\nRequired Qualifications:\n10+ years of experience as a so ware development engineer or equivalent hands-on experience producing code for product on systems\n5+ years of experience working with Public Cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP, beyond basic IaaS functionality\n5+ years of experience programming in at least one high-level language (Python, Golang, JavaScript, etc.)\n5+ years of engineering experience in building infrastructure using code and repeatable designs (IaC)\n2+ years of experience with containers and orchestra on platforms, such as Kubernetes\n2+ years of experience in automating CI/CD using Jenkins [Pipeline as Code], GitHub actions, or similar tools, along with proficiency in source control systems such as Git\n2+ years of experience with Agile/lean development practices as a leader\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with containers and orchestra on platforms, such as Kubernetes\nProven excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills\nEvidence-based approach to decision-making and problem-solving\nDesign mindset with the ability to construct scalable, distributed services\nProficient in algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, and system design\nKnowledge of API design and lifecycle management (REST, etc.)\nExpertise in data storage, caching, and optimization (SQL and NoSQL databases)\nFamiliarity with inter-service messaging and stream discovery (SQS, Pub/Sub Ka a, etc.).\nProficiency in instrumentation, logging, and tracing tools (Prometheus, CloudWatch, Stack Driver, Azure Monitor, etc.)\nAt UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
