Growing together.\nAs a Software Engineering Lead within Optum Technology, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of innovative full-stack software solutions. In this role, you will leverage backend technologies such as Java or Python alongside frontend frameworks like React to build modern, scalable APIs and user interfaces. You will work in an agile, quality-driven environment incorporating automated testing, DevOps practices, continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and containerized platform architectures.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nLead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of full-stack software applications utilizing React for frontend development and Java or Python for backend APIs\nDesign, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions and automated capabilities to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on responsible technology practices\nLeverage enterprise-approved automation and tools to streamline development workflows, optimize code quality, and drive continuous technical improvement\nEvaluate emerging trends and strategic innovations to inform architectural solution design and platform enhancement\nManage and maintain CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and cloud-native application infrastructure\nImplement robust automated testing frameworks and practices (e.g., TDD, JUnit, Jest) to enforce rigorous software quality standards\nCollaborate with cross-functional technical teams, architects, and product owners to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient applications\nComply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or 4+ years of equivalent software engineering experience\n6+ years of experience working as a backend software developer with Java or Python\n2+ years of experience working as a software developer with JavaScript or TypeScript\n2+ years of experience building frontend application features using React\n2+ years of experience designing and styling web interfaces using CSS\nPreferred Qualifications:\nHealthcare industry experience\nExperience developing REST-based APIs and microservices architectures\nExperience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Hibernate\nExperience with Test Driven Development (TDD) using testing frameworks such as JUnit, Spock, Vitest, or Jest\nExperience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins)\nExperience with enterprise monitoring, logging, and observability tools (e.g., Splunk, Grafana) to ensure system reliability and performance\nExperience working with relational databases such as MySQL\nHands-on experience with container platforms and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Service [AKS], OpenShift)\nAt UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
