Growing together.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nAdminister, maintain, monitor, and optimize PostgreSQL database environments across development, testing, and production platforms\nDesign, implement, and support highly available, scalable, and secure database solutions on Microsoft Azure\nPerform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migration, and performance tuning activities\nDevelop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex PostgreSQL SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and scripts\nMonitor database health, performance, capacity, and availability using Azure monitoring and database management tools\nImplement and manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability solutions\nSupport Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, and related cloud services\nAnalyze database workloads and recommend indexing, partitioning, and query optimization strategies\nCollaborate with application development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to support application deployments and database releases\nAutomate routine DBA tasks using scripting languages such as PostgreSQL SQL, Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Terraform\nEnsure database security through role-based access controls, encryption, vulnerability remediation, and compliance with organizational standards\nDevelop and maintain database standards, operational runbooks, technical documentation, and best practices\nTroubleshoot and resolve database incidents, performance bottlenecks, replication issues, and data integrity concerns\nSupport cloud migration initiatives involving on-premises and Azure-hosted database platforms\nParticipate in on-call support and production issue resolution activities as required\nComply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience\n5+ years of experience in Database Administration with a focus on PostgreSQL\nHands-on experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL and other Azure cloud services\nExperience with database migration, upgrade, and patch management processes\nExperience implementing backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions\nExperience with Linux and/or Windows server administration supporting database platforms\nKnowledge of database security best practices, user management, encryption, and auditing\nFamiliarity with monitoring and performance management tools\nSolid expertise in PostgreSQL architecture, administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, replication, and troubleshooting\nSolid SQL and PostgreSQL scripting skills, including query optimization and performance analysis\nDemonstrated solid analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills\nDemonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills\nAt UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
