This role offers the opportunity to solve critical engineering challenges, evaluate emerging technology trends, and deliver impactful digital solutions at enterprise scale.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable software applications and AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on responsible use of AI.\nLeverage enterprise-approved AI tools and modern engineering practices to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement.\nEvaluate emerging trends and technologies to inform solution design, architecture, and strategic innovation.\nCollaborate with cross-functional product, engineering, and data teams to define software requirements and technical specifications.\nWrite clean, maintainable, performant code and participate in code reviews, design reviews, and architectural discussions.\nTroubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance, cloud services, and integration pipelines in production environments.\nMentor junior and mid-level software engineers, fostering technical growth and modern software development practices across the team\nYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, 4+ years of equivalent professional software engineering experience in Lieu of Degree\n5+ years of professional software development experience designing, building, and deploying enterprise-grade applications\n3+ years of experience with one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or TypeScript)\n2+ years of experience working in an Agile/Scrum engineering environment\n1+ years of experience building, integrating, and deploying AI-powered features, automated workflows, or machine learning services/APIs\n1+ years of experience with DevOps automation, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab)\n1+ years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and microservices application architecture\nPreferred Qualifications\nAdvanced degree (Master's) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related technical field\nExperience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs), natural language processing (NLP), or vector databases into software applications\nUnderstanding of enterprise AI ethics, safety guidelines, and data governance practices\nExperience with healthcare data systems, health benefits operations, or security/privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA)\n*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy\nPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment.
