Growing together.\nPosition Summary\nAs a Senior Software Developer on our Optum Rx Software Engineering team, you will design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Node.js, React, and JavaScript within an AWS cloud environment. You will lead technical efforts in building cloud-native solutions with AWS Lambda and MySQL RDS, integrating AI-driven capabilities, and leveraging developer productivity tools to automate workflows and optimize application performance across our pharmacy services platform.\nYou'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nDesign, develop, test, debug, and maintain scalable full-stack web applications and services using Node.js, React, and JavaScript.\nArchitect, build, and deploy serverless microservices and cloud database solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS), utilizing services such as AWS Lambda and MySQL RDS.\nDesign, develop, and deploy AI-powered features, tools, and automated solutions to address complex business and operational challenges while adhering to responsible AI guidelines.\nLeverage enterprise-approved AI tools and modern development utilities to streamline workflows, automate testing, and drive continuous software delivery improvements.\nEvaluate emerging technologies and AI capabilities to inform solution architecture, system design, and strategic technical innovation.\nCollaborate with product managers, UX designers, architects, and cross-functional teams to translate pharmacy and healthcare business requirements into robust technical solutions.\nDrive code quality through continuous integration, peer code reviews, automated testing, and adherence to software engineering best practices.\nMentor team members and contribute to technical leadership and continuous process improvements across the organization.\nDesign, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AI \nYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear directions on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.\nRequired Qualifications:\n5+ years of software engineering experience in full-stack web application development using JavaScript and Node.js\n5+ years of hands-on experience with building, deploying, and maintaining cloud applications. (Eg, AWS, GCP, Azure)\n3+ years of experience designing, building, and integrating RESTful APIs and microservices\n2+ years of experience with CI/CD tools, automated testing frameworks, and modern build pipelines\n1+ years of experience developing, integrating, or utilizing AI-driven tools, services, or models within software applications or developer workflows\nPreferred Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree or 5+ years of software development experience\nExperience integrating enterprise AI frameworks, machine learning APIs, or generative AI services\nExperience with containerization and orchestration platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS/EKS)\nFamiliarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK\nExperience working within an Agile/Scrum software development lifecycle\nPharmacy benefits management (PBM) or healthcare industry domain experience\nSoftware engineering experience in full-stack web application development using React, Lambda, MySQL\nExperience working on Mac OS based development tools and workflow\nExperience with pharmacy, EHR, and healthcare system integrations is a plus\n*All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.\nPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment.
