We may be the right place for you, so get in touch!\nRole Profile\nYou will be a key member of the team that is responsible for supporting our electronics development and for maintaining the quality of our lab environments. Within your role you will have the opportunity to engage with technical challenges which suit your skills and development goals. Detail-oriented applicants who are passionate about problem solving and with interests spanning a wide range of engineering disciplines are ideal. You will also be involved in the development and day-to-day implementation of both operational processes (e.g., organization systems and 5S audits), Health and Safety practices (e.g., risk assessments, and SOPs), and other laboratory maintenance tasks (e.g. Consumables and stock ordering). This position requires a collaborative candidate with good communication skills.\nWhat You Can Accomplish:\nTechnical\nSimple PCB design (using Altium, e.g. test circuits, breakouts, adapters) \nAssembly of low-volume PCB prototypes and precise rework of components \nElectronics testing and data collection (e.g., organizing setups, equipment, and monitoring of tests) \nBasic mechanical CAD (e.g., IO panel design & 3D printed parts) \nMechanical fabrication and assembly (e.g., 3D printing, product assembly, cable making) \nComponent sourcing based on defined specifications (e.g., connectors, cables, switches) \nLaboratory\nBe a go-to person for engineering problem solving \nSupport the Health and Safety aspects and drive 5S principals \nMaintenance, organisation, and asset tracking (e.g., components, tools, and test equipment) \nEnsure stock of essential supplies (e.g., resistors, solder, 3D printer materials) \nEngage with facilities for planning activities and risk management. \nRequirements\nThe 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates:\nExperience in working with PCBs, electronics assemblies, electronic components, soldering, rework etc. \nAppreciation of good lab working practices, working safely, maintaining organisation in the lab \nBasic PCB schematic and layout using CAD tools, good manufacturing process knowledge and excellent verification/debugging skills using electronics test equipment. \nMust-have Skills:\n5-10 years of experience in working with electronics components, circuit boards, wiring, soldering, tools, and test equipment \nExperience with surface-mount assembly techniques i.e. stencil pasting, manual pick-and-place, reflow soldering etc. \nAbility to read and interpret electronics schematics \nConfident in using standard electronics test equipment: DMMs, Oscilloscopes, F-Gen \nSound knowledge of health and safety regulations, and experience in upholding H&S standards and good lab practices \nExperience in building test setups for electronics and electro-mechanical systems \nExperience of working with suppliers and contractors \nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, a team player \nDegree or relevant experience in engineering or electronics or a related discipline \nNice-to-have Skills:\nFamiliarity with both digital (e.g. MCUs, I2C, SPI, FPGAs) and analogue (e.g. ADCs, DACs, filter types) electronics circuits and components. \nExperience of RF measurement techniques. \nFamiliarity with complex electronics test equipment: Spectrum Analysers, Vector Network Analysers, LCR meters. \nSome history of using Altium and or SolidWorks, or other comparable CAD software \nExperience with 3D part design, FDM 3D printing, and DFM \nFamiliarity with writing or understanding code and documentation (e.g. C-style or Python scripts) \nExperience with organisational systems (e.g. for inventory management such as PartDB)\nPlease feel encouraged to apply even if you don't match all the requirements of our job description.
