The role provides hands-on exposure to modern engineering practices, including the responsible use of AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and solution design.\nResponsibilities and Associated Duties\nAll responsibilities are performed under direct supervision and guidance.\nContribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications and features.\nParticipate in Scrum team activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.\nCollaborate with software engineers, product owners, and other Technology team members on assigned projects and development initiatives.\nParticipate in code reviews and use modern source-control workflows, including Git, branches, pull requests, and peer review.\nUse AI-assisted development tools to support coding, debugging, testing, documentation, research, and problem solving.\nUnderstand, critically review, test, and validate AI-generated code and recommendations before incorporating them into deliverables.\nAssist with troubleshooting software defects, identifying root causes, and implementing fixes under the guidance of experienced developers.\nDevelop and execute unit tests or other automated tests to support application quality and reliability.\nCreate and maintain clear technical documentation, including setup instructions, code comments, and knowledge-sharing materials.\nGain exposure to the full software development lifecycle while developing technical and professional skills through hands-on work, mentorship, feedback, and self-directed learning.\nMeasures of Success\nCompletes assigned development work accurately and within agreed sprint commitments, with appropriate guidance.\nContributes consistently to Scrum activities, code reviews, and team collaboration.\nProduces code that is understandable, maintainable, tested, documented, and aligned with team standards.\nUses AI-assisted development tools responsibly while independently validating accuracy, security, and quality.\nDemonstrates continued growth by applying feedback, expanding technical skills, and taking increasing ownership of assigned work.\nKnowledge Experience and Skill Requirements\nCurrently enrolled in a bachelor's program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, AI/ML, or a related field.\nActively attending a college or university in the Tampa Bay area, such as the University of South Florida, University of Tampa, or Florida Polytechnic University.\nBasic understanding of computer systems and troubleshooting concepts.\nStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.\nEffective communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.\nEagerness to learn and grow in a structured, team-oriented environment.\nPreferred \nFamiliarity with one or more programming languages, such as C#, JavaScript or TypeScript, Python, Java, or a similar language.\nBasic understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design concepts.\nFamiliarity with Git or another source control system.\nExposure to web application development, APIs, relational databases, SQL, or cloud-based application development.\nExperience with, or interest in, AI-assisted software development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies.\nUnderstanding of basic software testing and debugging concepts.\nExperience with personal, academic, open-source, or hackathon software development projects is a plus.\nDisclaimer\nThis position description highlights a general description of duties and responsibilities.
