They research new technologies, build proof-of-concept prototypes, demonstrate feasibility of new product concepts, and lay the foundation for new product design and development.\nDuties:\nResearch current clinical needs in the field of organ transplantation via scientific literature surveys and interactions with medical professionals and researchers\nTranslate clinical needs into product requirements and system specifications\nResearch and survey technologies that can be leveraged to build new products that fulfil clinical needs\nEstablish a solid scientific foundation to product design and communicate, via reports and presentations, to the clinical and design teams\nDesign and build prototypes of proof-of-concept systems and use them to demonstrate feasibility and validate technological decisions\nPlan, execute and report on testing of new design concepts\nIdentify and interact with vendors to procure critical components of new organ preservation and perfusion systems\nCollaborate with the product development team to transition R&D projects into product design and development\nParticipate in risk management activities; identify hazards, evaluate risks and find mitigations\nResearch the patent landscape for new product ideas\nParticipate into patent claim specifications for the company’s inventions\nResearch the regulatory landscape for new product avenues\nParticipate in the creation of preclinical validation protocols\nAdhere to and enhance the Quality Management System (QMS), including developing and maintaining documentation and training other staff as appropriate.\n Education:\nBachelor of Engineering degree\nMaster’s of Science or Applied Science degree\nExperience:\n2+ years experience with medical technology (could be through graduate studies)\nSkills and Knowledge:\nGeneral knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts\nGeneral knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, electronic instruments, etc.\nExperience with software development using scripting languages (e.g. Matlab or Python)\nHigh-level knowledge of human biology\nHigh interest in medical technology\nExcellent verbal and written communication
