Job Description

The UW Counseling Center has an outstanding opportunity for anAssessment Coordinator and Psychologistto join their team.

About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Assessment Coordinator & Psychologist is responsible forproviding short-term mental health counseling services and psychological assessment to enrolled UW students. This includes coordination of the ADHD testing program. This role also provides professional consultation to UW faculty, staff, and students regardingstudent behavior, mental health, and academic challenges to enhance the campus climate for student success.

This position involves daily intense contact with UW students in psychological or academic distress. Consultation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and appropriate referrals- on and off campus - will be required. This position requires the ability to work in a cross-cultural environment. Understanding the role of trauma (historical, community, family, and personal) in wellness and recovery is key. Cultural proficiencyand expertiseworking with BIPOC students is required. This position requires excellent crisis intervention skills.

This role serves on the UW Seattle campus, and is scheduled to workM-F, with occasional evening hours. Telework is currently available2x/week.

Key Responsibilities

Psychotherapy and Consultation with campus partners (40%)

  • Provide clinical counseling for individual, group, and on/off campus referrals to currently-enrolledUW students, including initial intake assessments and referral.

  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention when students presentin distress.

  • Provide professional consultation to UW faculty, staff, and students regardingstudent behavior, mental health, and academic challenges to enhance an inclusive campus climate for student success.

Assessment Coordination (25%)

  • Coordinate the psychological testing program at the Counseling Center, which includes testing for ADHD.

  • Provide ADHD assessments throughout the academic year (on average about 10 per quarter).

Documentation (20%)

  • Ensuring accurateand timelydocumentation of assessment, treatment and services provided.

Other Responsibilities (15%)

  • Provide individual clinical supervision of doctoral psychology interns and teach training seminars on topics of expertiseand interest.

  • Be part of an interdisciplinary team designed to enhance the mental health of UW students, create a healthier and more inclusive campus climate, and to respond to mental health crises. This includes participatingin staff meetings, committeesor other center projects.

  • Engage in professional development to keep current in the field, including maintainingclinical licenseto practice in Washington.

Required Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunityyour application must demonstrateyou meet both the minimum qualifications and additionalqualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwardedto the Hiring Department.

  • DoctoralDegree in Counseling/Clinical Psychology.

  • One year full-time experience (can include internship and/or postdoc) providing mental health counseling

  • Current licensurein the state of Washington as a licensed psychologist, ORcandidate is license eligibleand will be a licensed psychologist within threemonths of hire date.

Additional Qualifications

  • Two-years post licensure in the state of Washington or another jurisdiction, which allows for clinical supervision of interns.

  • Experience providing mental health counseling and psychological testing with college-aged clients, preferably in a university counseling center.

  • Experience providing psychological test batteries, including ADHD assessments.

  • Demonstrated cultural proficiencyand deep experience serving diverse populations, including testing.

  • Evidence of outstanding skills in clinical assessment, psychotherapy and counseling, crisis management, and psycho-education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated administrative/coordination skills and attention to details.

  • Demonstrated skill in working well under pressure to prioritize and manage multiple clinical responsibilities.

  • Strong communicationand interpersonal skills.

  • Experience providing treatment via telehealth technology.
