Job Duties:

The Department of Anesthesiology at The University of Wisconsin is recruiting a pediatric cardiothoracic anesthesiologist primarily to provide clinical anesthesia care with teaching opportunities to residents and medical students. If appointed on the CHS track, duties will also include education and research components.

  • This position is full or part time, 75%-100%

  • This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location

  • Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Clinical Professor or Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor or Professor (CHS) or Associate Professor (CHS) or Assistant Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

  • Contact with vulnerable populations that are non-minors (does not pertain to physicians/providers who work with minors): This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

  • The chosen applicant will participate in administrative, and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.

  • Physicians hired on the CHS track will have additional responsibilities in education or research to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

  • The chosen candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows.

Negotiable, 12 month

Required Qualifications:

  • WI Medical license by start date of position

  • Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology by start date of position

  • Completion of anesthesiology residency program, and certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Subspecialty fellowship training in pediatric cardiothoracic anesthesiology, or extensive experience with pediatric cardiothoracic anesthesia patients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Duties for appointment to the Clinician Teacher (CT) track: Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call ) in an anesthesia team model.

  • Duties for appointment to CHS track: Major teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students in the operating room, and didactic sessions. Primary emphasis of teaching will be in general anesthesia procedures and techniques, or in area of subspecialty training. Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model or personally performed anesthesia. Opportunity for participation in clinical research for interested candidates.

Education:

MD, DO, or equivalent is required
