The position requires employees to\nsafely handle steel materials, monitor equipment operation, perform basic\nadjustments, inspect material, and communicate equipment or production\nconcerns.\nThis position will begin as a\nUtility role. Employees will receive training and gain experience until they\nmeet the qualifications required to advance into the posted position title.\nEmployees will have the opportunity to learn and operate\nmanufacturing equipment while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality,\nand productivity.\nBASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:\nOperate and monitor bloomer equipment to process steel products according to established procedures and production requirements\nLoad, position, and handle steel materials as required for the manufacturing process\nMonitor equipment operation and material movement throughout the production process\nMake basic adjustments to equipment and process settings as trained and directed\nPerform basic math and measurements to support production activities\nInspect material and finished product for quality and identify conditions that may require attention\nCommunicate equipment, material, or production concerns to the appropriate personnel\nFollow established work instructions, quality requirements, and production procedures\nMaintain a safe, clean, and organized work area\nParticipate in 5S and housekeeping activities\nSafely operate material-handling equipment as trained and authorized\nWork cooperatively with other operators, maintenance, quality, and manufacturing personnel\nPerform other duties as assigned\nSAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION\nThis is a safety-sensitive position in a manufacturing\nenvironment. Employees are expected to follow all company rules and procedures,\nproperly use required PPE, and immediately report unsafe conditions or\nequipment concerns.\nEmployees must follow all company safety procedures and PPE\nrequirements for their assigned work area.\nEmployees must be willing and able to comply with all required\nPPE, safety procedures, and work practices.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nWork is performed in a manufacturing environment around industrial equipment, machinery, steel products, and materials\nEmployees may work in different manufacturing areas based on operational needs\nEmployees may work around moving equipment, heavy materials, and industrial processes\nAbility to work safely in a manufacturing environment is required\nEmployees must be able to work extended shifts and varying schedules assigned\nSKILLS:\nBasic math skills\nAbility to understand and follow written and verbal instructions\nAbility to understand the responsibilities and requirements of the assigned role\nStrong work ethic and reliable attendance\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nAbility to learn and operate manufacturing equipment\nMechanically inclined\nFlexibility and willingness to learn multiple processes and equipment\nStrong commitment to safety and proper PPE use\nAbility to work on a team or independently\nEXPERIENCE:\nPrevious manufacturing experience preferred\nPrevious heavy machinery or industrial equipment operation experience preferred\nExperience working in a steel or industrial manufacturing environment preferred\nEDUCATION/TRAINING:\nHigh School diploma or GED is required\nPrevious manufacturing experience is preferred but not required\nOn-the-job training will be provided\nAdditional training will be provided on assigned equipment and manufacturing processes\nSCHEDULE:\nCurrent schedule: 6:00 AM-6:00 PM\nCurrent goal is to operate on a 4-day, 10-hour schedule, with alternating Fridays and Mondays off\nSchedule is subject to operational needs\nOccasional overtime may be required\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nMust be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds\nMust be able to stand, walk, bend, and work in a manufacturing environment for extended periods\nMust be able to safely work around manufacturing equipment, machinery, and materials\nMust be able to wear required PPE for assigned work areas\nTRAINING & GROWTH:\nAs you become qualified for additional roles and\nresponsibilities, you will have opportunities to advance and earn higher pay.\nUniversal provides on-the-job training and opportunities to\ndevelop skills across multiple manufacturing areas.
