Employees will receive training and gain experience until they meet the qualifications required to advance into the posted position title.\nThe Saw Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring saw equipment used in the manufacturing process. The Saw Operator follows established procedures to safely and efficiently process material while meeting production and quality requirements.\nBasic Responsibilities:\nOperate and monitor saw equipment used to cut steel products according to established procedures and production requirements.\nLoad, position, and secure material for cutting as required.\nSet up and operate saw equipment according to work instructions and training.\nMonitor cutting operations to ensure material is processed accurately and efficiently.\nPerform basic math and measurements to determine cutting requirements and verify material dimensions.\nInspect material before and after processing for quality and accuracy.\nMonitor saw blades, equipment condition, and cutting performance and communicate concerns to appropriate personnel.\nSafely handle steel products and materials throughout the production process.\nFollow established work instructions, quality requirements, and production procedures.\nMaintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.\nParticipate in 5S and housekeeping activities.\nSafely operate material-handling equipment as trained and authorized.\nWork cooperatively with other operators, maintenance, quality, and manufacturing personnel.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nSafety-Sensitive Position\nTHIS IS A SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION. PROPER USE OF ALL REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) IS MANDATORY.\nEmployees must follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements for their assigned work area.\nEmployees must be willing and able to comply with all required PPE, safety procedures, and work practices.\nWork Environment:\nWork is performed in a manufacturing environment around industrial equipment, machinery, steel products, and materials.\nEmployees may work in different manufacturing areas based on operational needs.\nEmployees may work around moving equipment, heavy materials, and industrial processes.\nAbility to work safely in a manufacturing environment is required.\nEmployees must be able to work extended shifts and varying schedules assigned.\nSkills:\nBasic math skills.\nAbility to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.\nAbility to understand the responsibilities and requirements of the assigned role.\nStrong work ethic and reliable attendance.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nAbility to learn and operate manufacturing equipment.\nFlexibility and willingness to learn multiple processes and equipment.\nStrong commitment to safety and proper PPE use.\nAbility to work on a team or independently\nExperience:\nPrevious manufacturing experience preferred.\nPrevious heavy machinery or industrial equipment operation experience preferred.\nExperience operating saws preferred.\nExperience working in a steel or industrial manufacturing environment preferred.\nEducation/Training:\nHigh school diploma or GED is required.\nPrevious manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.\nOn-the-job training will be provided.\nAdditional training will be provided on assigned equipment and manufacturing processes.\nSchedule:\n6:00 AM-6:00 PM and 6:00 PM-6:00 AM shifts.\nCurrent schedules are rotating.\nCurrently working 6 days per week.\nOvertime may be required based on operational needs.\nPhysical Requirements:\nMust be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.\nMust be able to stand, walk, bend, and work in a manufacturing environment for extended periods.\nMust be able to safely work around manufacturing equipment, machinery, and materials.\nMust be able to wear required PPE for assigned work areas.\nTraining & Growth:\nAs you become qualified for additional roles and responsibilities, you will have opportunities to advance and earn higher pay.\nUniversal provides on-the-job training and opportunities to develop skills across multiple manufacturing areas.
