This position works individually and in teams with minimal direction from management. At this level, individuals contribute to audit or project objectives using audit or business experience, creativity, problem solving and critical thinking, decision making, and professional judgment.Principal Duties and Responsibilities\nAct as a mentor/coach to develop, challenge, empower, and share knowledge with team members within Global Audit, where applicable, to achieve results and seek growth opportunities.\nLeverage and continuously improve audit knowledge and application of audit principles, practices, frameworks, and methodology.\nShare responsibility for completing quality audit activities in support of team performance goals and metrics. \nWork independently and in teams to plan, organize, and prioritize work across multiple audits and initiatives, and may lead audits with less complexity.\nInvest in ongoing learning (e.g., departmental trainings, professional learning opportunities, and certifications such as CISA, CIA, CPA, CFE) to deepen your skills, while also supporting others by sharing developmental opportunities and personal learnings.\nUtilize audit management software (Oprto), data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Microsoft Power BI), productivity software (Microsoft Office), and applicable analytics to work effectively and support the technical development of others.\nSupport your team in planning, organizing, researching best practices, and completing the steps of the internal audit lifecycle to assess whether risks related to business applications and infrastructure are being managed.\nDesign and complete testing to evaluate the strength and effectiveness of processes/controls using a risk-based audit approach.\nLeverage strong problem solving, critical thinking skills, and attention to detail to identify risks affecting the company, including assurance on compliance with applicable regulations such as IT general controls in scope for the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX). \nCollaborate with team members, business partners, and external consultants to assess the business impact of IT related risks and recommend appropriate actions.\nAssist in the development and presentation of audit results to business partners, including senior leaders, in a way that can be consumed, agreed to, and will inspire action.\nBuild relationships with a broad range of technical professionals, business areas, and leaders while continuing to expand knowledge of various processes, IT systems, and industry trends to advise senior leaders and provide forward-looking insights that reduce risk.\nPerform moderately complex analysis of IT and business data to identify risks and assess control deficiencies.\nJob Specifications\nRelevant four-year degree in information systems, computer science, finance/accounting, or other related field required with 3 to 7 years’ work experience.\nProfessional certification (e.g., CIA, CPA, CFE, CISA) preferred or working towards certification.\nUse technology knowledge to identify risks and consult on activities that enable smart risk taking and the achievement of company objectives.\nStrong problem solving, critical thinking skills, and demonstrated curiosity.\nAct on feedback from managers and solve problems in a collaborative way.\nCommit quickly and positively to change; promote and role model effective change behavior, including adoption of new processes and technologies.\nEffective, inclusive, and succinct oral and written communicator who actively listens, builds strong connections, instills trust, influences, and aligns stakeholders.\nSuccessfully communicate complex information to diverse audiences, tailoring your communication style to the needs of your audience.\nUse data to provide comprehensive insights, enable better decision-making, and tell a story. \nOperate with a continuous improvement mindset, seeking more efficient ways of working, sharing knowledge, and encouraging others to pursue improvement opportunities.\nAttention to detail while effectively and independently prioritizing work and managing multiple projects simultaneously.\nAbility to link a strong understanding of business processes, business drivers, and changes to other business areas, risks, issues, and trends that that result in actionable outcomes.\nStrong Excel skills and proficient in Word and PowerPoint.\nBasic skills in scripting or automated testing/analysis (e.g., Python, PowerShell, R) a plus.\nTechnical Competencies\nFamiliarity with audit principles and practices in alignment with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) Global Internal Audit Standards.\nFamiliarity with Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) control framework for Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) financial reporting.\nUnum and Colonial Life are part of Unum Group, a Fortune 500 company and leading provider of employee benefits to companies worldwide. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.\n$73,300.00-$150,500.00Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
