We are looking for an Expert / Senior Process Expert, Direct Tax, to join our Direct Tax and Transfer Pricing team within Finance and Control. This position is based in Tampere or Helsinki.

“You will be joining the Direct Tax and Transfer Pricing team which plays a key role in UPM’s global finance organization. In this Expert / Senior Process Expert, Direct Tax - Tax Reporting & Transformation role, you will help shape UPM’s future tax reporting operating model. You will focus on the transformation and standardization of global tax reporting and compliance processes, combining hands-on expertise with process development and automation. You will work closely with finance teams globally and contribute to building scalable, data-driven and efficient ways of working in an environment of increasing reporting requirements.” -Johanna Tuomi, Senior Process Manager, Direct Tax and Transfer Pricing

What you will do

  • Drive the transformation of tax reporting and compliance processes and support their implementation in practice
  • Contribute to automation initiatives, including tax-related systems and reporting tools and related process development
  • Drive improvements in data quality, consistency, and scalability to enable more efficient and streamlined reporting as reporting requirements continue to evolve
  • Contribute to the quarterly and annual tax reporting process, with a focus on validation and analysis of tax provisions and providing accounting guidance to finance teams
  • Participate in Pillar II (Global Minimum Tax) processes, including quarterly assessments and annual compliance activities, working closely with the team and, for compliance, external service providers
  • Support corporate income tax (CIT) compliance processes by providing guidance to finance teams and collaborating with external service providers
  • Act as subject matter expert connecting tax, finance, and systems, ensuring that processes and data flows work effectively in practice
  • Provide expert guidance to finance teams globally in tax reporting and related processes

Who you are

  • You have a background in accounting, finance, or taxation, with relevant experience in tax or financial reporting
  • You have experience or strong interest in systems, data, or reporting tools, and understand their growing importance in developing efficient and scalable tax reporting processes
  • You are able to take ownership of processes, drive improvements, and support the implementation of changes in collaboration with tax, finance, and system stakeholders
  • You have a good understanding of tax reporting and financial accounting and global tax compliance, including their connection to underlying data and processes, and ability to apply this in practice
  • You have a solid understanding of corporate taxation and income tax accounting, and you are motivated to deepen your expertise in tax reporting, IFRS income tax accounting and Pillar II requirements
  • You have a structured and analytical way of working, combined with a hands-on and solution-oriented mindset
  • Experience in reporting development initiatives and with reporting tools (e.g. OneStream, SAP, Power BI) is considered an asset
  • You communicate clearly, collaborate effectively, and are comfortable working in an international environment
