If you have the qualities and drive to lead yourself or teams, there are roles ready to cultivate your skills and take you to the next level.\nJob Description:\nJob Purpose\nThe Export Airfreight Clerk is responsible for managing airfreight export shipments from initial customer booking through to final departure and delivery. The role ensures shipments are processed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with customer requirements, airline procedures, customs regulations and company standards.\nThe successful candidate will provide excellent customer service while coordinating with customers, airlines, overseas agents, hauliers and internal departments.\nKey Responsibilities\nManage airfreight export shipments from booking through to completion.\nReceive and process customer shipping instructions.\nBook shipments with airlines and airline handling agents.\nArrange collections and transportation to airports and handling facilities.\nPrepare and process export documentation accurately and within required deadlines.\nComplete and submit customs export declarations where required.\nEnsure all shipments comply with relevant customs, aviation security and dangerous goods requirements.\nPrepare Air Waybills (AWBs) and other necessary shipping documentation.\nLiaise with airlines regarding bookings, flight schedules, space availability and shipment status.\nMonitor shipments and provide customers with regular updates.\nIdentify and resolve operational issues, delays or discrepancies.\nLiaise with overseas agents regarding shipment requirements and pre-alert documentation.\nPrepare and send pre-alerts following shipment departure.\nCheck supplier and airline charges and ensure costs are correctly recorded against shipments.\nProduce customer quotations and calculate freight and associated charges where required.\nEnsure files are completed accurately and ready for invoicing.\nMaintain accurate records within the company's freight management system.\nDeal with customer queries promptly and professionally.\nDevelop positive working relationships with customers, suppliers, airlines and overseas partners.\nEscalate significant service issues or potential additional costs to management.\nWork closely with colleagues to ensure customer service levels and operational deadlines are achieved.\nSkills & Experience\nEssential:\nPrevious experience within freight forwarding, logistics or an export environment.\nGood understanding of airfreight export procedures.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage several shipments simultaneously.\nExcellent attention to detail.\nGood written and verbal communication skills.\nConfident communicating with customers, airlines, suppliers and overseas agents.\nStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and general freight management systems.\nAbility to work under pressure and meet strict cut-off times and deadlines.\nGood problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving operational issues.\nDesirable:\nPrevious experience specifically within airfreight exports.\nKnowledge of customs export procedures and declarations.\nExperience preparing Air Waybills.\nKnowledge of Incoterms.\nUnderstanding of aviation security requirements.\nDangerous Goods awareness or Dangerous Goods by Air certification.\nExperience using freight forwarding/customs software.\nAbout UPS\nFounded in 1907 as a messenger company in the United States, UPS has grown into a multi-billion-dollar corporation with a clear focus on enabling global commerce.
