You don't need to have experience as a team leader to be in contention for this role as it would suit a motivated engineer looking to step up.\nYou will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of a highly automated environment, working with equipment such as conveyors and PLC-controlled systems, and associated electrical and mechanical components.\nThis is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a modern facility that offers cutting-edge technology, ongoing training, and strong progression opportunities.\nAbout the Team\nOur team of Maintenance Engineers are highly skilled control systems engineers who lead a team within our fully automated facility. This is a key position combining 80% hands-on technical work and 20% administrative responsibility.\nAs a team leader, you will oversee maintenance, automation, and control operations using advanced technologies and be provided with an outstanding platform to enhance your technical expertise and leadership capabilities.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead and coordinate a team of engineers and clerks\nPrioritise maintenance activities and allocate tasks effectively\nPerform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on automation systems\nDiagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and control system faults\nRespond rapidly to breakdowns to minimise operational downtime\nMaintaining and troubleshooting work on conveyors, motors, sensors, VFDs, scanners and pneumatic system and PLC-controlled systems (e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley)\nConduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives for system performance\nEnsure compliance with health & safety standards\nMaintain accurate records using CMMS/Maximo systems\nSupport installation and commissioning of new equipment\nCollaborate closely with operations during peak periods\nRequirements\nElectrical Engineering Degree (HNC/HND)\nAbility to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams\nStrong electrical fault-finding skills\nKnowledge of conveyors, sorters, motors, sensors, relays, and drives\nWorking knowledge of PLC systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley)\nStrong understanding of health & safety practices\nExcellent communication and teamwork skills\nFlexibility to work shifts, weekends, and overtime\n17th / 18th Edition desirable but not essential\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive salary and benefits package\nCompany pension scheme\nPaid maternity leave\nOngoing training and development opportunities\nSupportive and collaborative engineering team\nModern, automated working environment\nEmployee wellbeing programme\nEqual Opportunity Statement\nUPS is committed to treating all individuals fairly.
