If you have the qualities and drive to lead yourself or teams, there are roles ready to cultivate your skills and take you to the next level.\nJob Description:\nPart-Time Local Sort Supervisor - Extended Bemidji, MN Center\nHours: Monday-Friday 4:00pm-9:00pm\nPay: $26.25/hour\nAssociates/bachelor's degree preferred but not required.\nPosition Summary\nThe Part-Time Local Sort Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily PM operations of the local sort within an extended UPS center. This position provides leadership and direction to hourly employees to ensure packages are processed safely, accurately, and efficiently while meeting established service commitments and operational goals.\nThe supervisor is responsible for coordinating staffing, managing workflow, monitoring productivity, ensuring compliance with UPS policies and procedures, and maintaining a safe and productive work environment. This role requires strong leadership, sound decision-making, effective communication, and the ability to adapt to changing operational demands in a fast-paced environment.\nKey Responsibilities:\nOperational Leadership\nDirect and oversee daily local sort operations to ensure packages are processed accurately and within established service commitments.\nCoordinate staffing, employee assignments, and work areas based on daily volume and operational needs.\nMonitor package flow, production levels, and operational performance to identify and address inefficiencies.\nEnsure proper handling, scanning, loading, and dispatch of packages.\nProactively identify operational challenges and implement solutions to maintain service and productivity.\nCoordinate with the morning preload team, delivery drivers, feeder department, and other operational departments, as needed to ensure seamless communication and package movement.\nMaintain operational accountability throughout the sort and ensure all assigned responsibilities are completed.\nSafety and Compliance\nPromote a strong safety culture by ensuring employees follow UPS safety policies, procedures, and safe work methods.\nConduct safety observations and address unsafe behaviors or working conditions.\nEnsure employees receive appropriate training and understand their job responsibilities.\nMaintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable labor agreements.\nTake immediate action to correct safety concerns and prevent workplace injuries.\nEmployee Leadership and Development\nProvide daily direction, coaching, and feedback to hourly employees.\nEstablish clear performance expectations and hold employees accountable for meeting operational standards.\nRecognize strong performance and identify opportunities for employee development.\nAddress attendance, performance, and conduct issues promptly and consistently.\nFoster a positive, respectful, and productive work environment.\nBuild effective working relationships with employees, union representatives, and management.\nService and Performance Management\nMonitor service performance and ensure all packages are processed to meet established commitments.\nReview operational reports and performance indicators to identify trends and improvement opportunities.\nAddress service failures, misloads, package exceptions, and other operational concerns.\nEnsure proper communication and follow-up on unresolved operational issues.\nDrive continuous improvement in productivity, efficiency, service, and employee performance.\nCommunication and Administrative Responsibilities\nCommunicate operational expectations, staffing needs, and performance updates to management.\nMaintain accurate operational records and complete required reports and documentation.\nCommunicate effectively with employees and management regarding daily operational changes and expectations.\nExercise sound judgment when addressing employee concerns and operational challenges.\nEnsure appropriate communication and coordination between departments within the extended center.\nQualifications and Skills\nDemonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities.\nStrong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.\nKnowledge of package handling operations and UPS procedures preferred.\nAbility to analyze operational performance and implement corrective actions.\nAbility to hold employees accountable while maintaining positive working relationships.\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail.\nCommitment to safety, service, and operational excellence.\nCore Leadership Expectations\nThe successful candidate will demonstrate:\nAccountability: Takes ownership of operational results and follows through on commitments.\nLeadership: Sets clear expectations, leads by example, and develops employees.\nSafety: Makes safety the highest priority in all operational decisions.\nCommunication: Provides clear, timely, and consistent direction.\nAdaptability: Responds effectively to changing volume, staffing, and operational demands.\nIntegrity: Demonstrates professionalism, consistency, and sound judgment.\nResults Orientation: Drives performance while balancing safety, service, and employee engagement.\nOverall Performance Expectations\nThe Part-Time Local Sort Supervisor is expected to lead a safe, efficient, and service-oriented operation while developing employee capability and maintaining accountability. The base pay for this position ranges from $26.25/hr to $42.65/hr. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to, market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and education/training and a candidate’s work experience. Hired applicants are offered annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs, subject to applicable eligibility requirements. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
