In this role, you will design and build AI-native systems that improve how revenue teams manage pipeline, analyze performance, and automate operational workflows.\nYou will work at the intersection of engineering, AI, and business operations, building systems that support how Upside acquires merchants, serves partners, and scales its go-to-market motion. We are looking for someone who has put modern AI tools to work on real operational problems and who likes owning systems end to end.\nWhat you'll do\nBuild applications and tools that accelerate Upside's go-to-market motion, including AI-native tools that help revenue teams manage pipeline, analyze performance, and automate operational workflows\n\nPartner closely with cross-functional teams to understand business workflows and translate them into scalable technical solutions; prototype, iterate, ship, and maintain\n\nOwn systems end to end, designing across the stack from front-end interfaces to backend services, automation pipelines, and AI orchestration layers\n\nImprove the systems you build by finding opportunities to increase reliability, performance, and scalability while reducing manual work for the teams who depend on them\n\nApply prompt design and prompt engineering as a core part of building AI-powered systems, including structuring prompts, evaluating outputs, and iterating to improve reliability and quality\n\nDrive quality through clear communication and documentation; record design decisions, communicate tradeoffs, and make sure others can build on your work\n\nDeliver reliably and transparently by setting clear expectations, communicating progress, and keeping stakeholders aligned as priorities evolve\n\nWhat we're looking for\nAround 8 years of professional software engineering experience, or comparable depth built through another path, with demonstrated strength in full-stack development (React/TypeScript plus backend and database experience)\n\nHands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering velocity and quality\n\nExperience building applications or systems that use LLMs, AI APIs, or modern AI frameworks\n\nExperience designing and owning internal platforms or operational systems end to end\n\nFamiliarity with modern deployment and infrastructure platforms such as Supabase, Vercel, or similar environments\n\nStrong product intuition and the ability to translate business workflows into well-architected technical solutions\n\nA track record of leading projects, supporting the growth of teammates, and delivering measurable outcomes\n\nStrong communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with both technical and non-technical partners\n\nNice to have\nExperience with CRM systems or revenue platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot\n\nExperience in marketplace or high-growth SaaS environments\n\nFamiliarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, and embedding-based search\n\nExperience with modern data platforms such as Snowflake\n\nTechnology stack\nWe don't expect experience with all of these. We're excited to work with engineers who have used them or want to learn: React, TypeScript, Next.js, Python (FastAPI), PostgreSQL, Supabase, Vercel, and modern API-driven architectures. We also use a range of AI tools across our development workflow, including OpenAI and GitHub Copilot.\nLocation:\nThis hybrid role is based in our Austin, Chicago, DC, or NYC office. In-office attendance is required on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and may increase based on project-based needs and changes to Upside’s in-office policy over time.\nCompensation:\nThe US base salary range for this full-time position is $214,000 - $250,000 + equity + benefits. The final starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
