You will join a cross-functional team building Pathfinder - a complex, data-heavy web application designed for strategic roadmapping and portfolio planning.\n\nThe focus of this role is backend engineering, data processing, APIs, performance, and scalability.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nAs a Senior Python Engineer, you will become part of a mixed internal and client-side team that includes:\n\nSenior Python Engineer(s)\n\nSenior Full-Stack Engineer\n\nSenior JavaScript Engineer\n\nSenior AQA / Manual QA\n\nSenior DevOps\n\nSenior Product Designer\n\nSolution Architect\n\nYou will work closely with the Solution Architect and the rest of the team within a shared tech stack. The environment is lean, fast-moving, and start-up-like, with evolving requirements.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign and develop robust, scalable backend services and APIs\n\nBuild efficient solutions for large-scale data processing, transformation, and aggregation\n\nImplement appropriate caching, queuing, batch processing, and optimisation where needed\n\nWrite clean, testable, and maintainable code with strong automated test coverage\n\nInvestigate and resolve complex technical and performance issues\n\nCollaborate closely with Solution Architect, AQA, Manual QA, and Front-end developers\n\nDesign solutions with performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability in mind\n\nMake pragmatic technical decisions considering cost, performance, and development effort\n\nChallenge unnecessary complexity and deliver what is actually needed\n\nRequirements\n\nStrong commercial experience with Python and modern Python frameworks\n\nProven ability to design and develop robust, scalable backend services and APIs\n\nExperience building efficient large-scale data processing, transformation, and aggregation solutions\n\nStrong knowledge of SQL and relational databases (query optimisation and data modelling)\n\nExperience with REST APIs, service integration, and asynchronous / background processing\n\nSolid understanding of software architecture and engineering principles (beyond framework-level development)\n\nAbility to analyse technical problems and choose the most appropriate solution\n\nComfort working with complex data models and business logic\n\nStrong focus on performance and efficiency, especially when processing large datasets\n\nClear understanding of the trade-offs between simplicity, scalability, and maintainability\n\nNote: AWS experience is not required.\n\nNice to Have\n\nStrong engineering fundamentals and a pragmatic, no-over-engineering mindset\n\nAbility to take ownership of technically challenging backend and data-processing problems and deliver robust, evolvable solutions\n\nEngagement Details\n\nLocation: Ukraine\n\nContract type: ФОП 3 група (FOP 3rd group)\n\nModel: Direct Hire\n\nDuration: 4 months (November start -
