We are looking for an engineer with 2-5 years of experience to help build and maintain our Kafka-based event streaming platform and support the migration of legacy enterprise systems into modern, cloud-native services. You will work closely with senior and staff engineers, product managers, and platform engineers to deliver reliable, well-tested integration services, while growing your skills in distributed systems and enterprise integration.\nRole Responsibilities\nImplement and maintain services that participate in our Kafka-based event streaming architecture, under the guidance of senior team members.\nBuild and support enterprise integration services as part of the migration off legacy platforms.\nUse agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar technologies to scope, implement, and troubleshoot well-defined tasks, with your work reviewed against the same standards applied to any pull request.\nWrite and maintain automated tests, and participate actively in code review - both giving and receiving feedback.\nCollaborate with Product Managers, Platform Engineers, and other Software Engineers on day-to-day feature and integration work.\nInvestigate and fix defects surfaced during development, testing, or production support, escalating ambiguous or architectural questions to senior engineers.\nContribute to documentation for the services and patterns you work on.\nLearn and apply the team's conventions for Kafka topic design, schema evolution, and service migration patterns.\nRole Qualifications\n2-5 years of professional software engineering experience.\nWorking proficiency in Python, with experience building and maintaining services or APIs.\nExposure to event-driven systems or message queues (Kafka experience a plus, not required) and a willingness to build deeper expertise here.\nFamiliarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and modern CI/CD and testing practices.\nComfortable using or learning agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) as part of the day-to-day workflow.\nStrong fundamentals: clear written communication, careful code review habits, and a bias toward asking questions when scope or requirements are unclear.\nEagerness to learn distributed systems and enterprise integration patterns from senior team members.\n#LI-HP1\nThe Perks\nURBN offers comprehensive Perks & Benefits to employees.
