Able to accurately tear down and set up machines and tooling to change over extrusion lines following all required procedures and standard practices to ensure a smooth production run. Startup extrusion lines within acceptable scrap limits. Able to accurately and quickly trouble shoot problems during production runs so that scrap and line time is minimized. Follow all established guidelines for safety. Train line operators on how specific production jobs are quality checked. Train new extrusion technician.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nExecute tear down, set-up procedures on production jobs within standard time allotment.\nSetup line to produce conforming products following all steps and process parameters specified on set up sheet.\nEnsure all standard work practices are followed for aligning and securing for tools and equipment.\nEnsure all components of extruder and tooling temperature controls are functioning properly including heater bands, thermal couples, crossover tubes and barrel zones.\nEnsure material dryers and alarms are on and function properly.\nEnsure stamping dies, lead ins, and other inline tooling are in good repair and function properly prior to startup.\nEnsure all inline equipment is configured, positioned and functioning properly including water tanks, printers, cutters, pullers, misters, presses and heaters prior to startup.\nReview all applicable quality alerts prior to start up.\nStartup line and obtain first article approval within acceptable scrap limits.\nEnsure all required machine guarding is in place.\nOperate line and pack parts as required.\nLoad or change out material as required.\nComplete all required paperwork and documentation including startup/shutdown checklist, process monitoring, in process check sheets, production recording and scrap counting.\nCommunicate production and quality issues/concerns with Production Supervisor whenever necessary.\nRed tag any tooling or equipment that is not functioning and return to maintenance or tool room areas.\nImmediately notify the Production Supervisor of any discrepancies to established quality checks.\nCommunicate production and quality issues/concerns with Associates, Supervisors, and incoming shift Extrusion Technicians.\nTrain and mentor Apprentice Technicians as assigned.\nConduct new process development as assigned.\nUpdate set up sheets based on process improvements.\nParticipate in team problem solving activities (i.e. 8D’s, Communication Meetings, Etc.)\nMaintain high standards of housekeeping in respective areas.\nComplete tech log daily.\nQualifications:\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
