USAA roles may offer remote or hybrid flexibility for active-duty military spouses consistent with applicable policy and business needs.\nThe Opportunity\nAs a dedicated Claims Litigation Manager Senior- Auto, in this individual contributor role you will be responsible for managing complex litigation arising out of the auto or property contract in compliance with state laws and regulations, to include creating strategy for defense or settlement, evaluating, negotiating, and collaborating with defense counsel to secure appropriate resolution. Accountable for delivering a concierge level of best in class member service through setting appropriate expectations, proactive communications, advice and empathy.\nThis hybrid role requires an individual to be in the office 3 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ Colorado Springs, CO, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.\nWhat you'll do:\nIdentifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.\nEnsures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.\nFollows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.\nManages complex litigation, to include BI or Property cases involving serious bodily injury or property damage, disputed damages with potential for excess exposure, cases with complex coverage issues, declaratory judgment actions and aggravated liability; PIP/MP cases containing severe or catastrophic injuries, serious questions of law, extra contractual exposure or other regulatory penalties to the association; Subrogation litigation involving analysis of legal recovery theories, affirmative defenses, and applicable laws and doctrines.\nWorks independently with minimal supervision; acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.\nApplies advanced knowledge of claims litigation processes.\nProactively manages litigation and acts as liaison with members, internal and external counsel.\nClearly documents litigation strategy, litigation budget, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, settlement, and trial decisions.\nRepresents USAA at mediations, case conferences, and/or trials.\nReviews, audits, and approves legal fees and expenses.\nPartners and/or directs law firm vendors to facilitate timely lawsuit resolution.\nHolds law firm vendors accountable for following Defense Counsel Litigation Handling Requirements.\nSynthesizes analyses, identifies root cause(s), and provides recommendations that influence litigation and business solutions.\nProvides insight and guides management and counsel on issues.\nAssists team members in reviewing, formulating, and documenting litigation plan and serves as a resource to team members on escalated issues of an unusual nature.\nImpacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams; works within broad guidelines and policies.\nMay serve as assistant to the Director of Litigation Operations and assigned to work on special projects and develop/conduct training.\nWill be prepared to assume responsibilities of the DLO, as needed, and demonstrate team leadership characteristics.\nEnsures members receive high levels of service from themselves and law firm vendors.\nEnsures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.\nWhat you have:\nBachelor's degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.\n6 years of relevant work experience handling complex liability and complex first party claims or progressive experience in complex litigation.\n2 years customer contact experience.\nClaims adjusters license in assigned state or ability to obtain license within 3 months.\nAdvanced knowledge of strong negotiation techniques and customer service skills.\nExcellent communication skills.\nAdvanced knowledge of P&C policies and state laws.\nAdvanced knowledge of regulatory compliance related to claims and claims litigation.\nExperience handling large losses auto, property or commercial.\nProficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.\nWhat sets you apart:\n5+ years' experience handling casualty liability claims to include bodily injury and uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury claims.\n 2+ years' direct handling of Auto Bodily Injury and Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Litigation to resolution.\nFamiliarity with injury claims litigation processes.\nExperience working injury claims in Texas litigated injury claims\nContinuing Education to include any relevant insurance designations (SCLA, CPCU, AIC, etc.). \nCompensation range: The salary range for this position is: $103,450 - $197,730.\nLicensed positions require a background check, that includes criminal history, education, employment verification, and a credit check consistent with applicable laws.\nUSAA does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
