USAA roles may offer remote or hybrid flexibility for active-duty military spouses consistent with applicable policy and business needs.\nThe Opportunity\nWe are seeking a Manager, Claims Operations, to lead a team of Auto Physical Damage (APD) Field Appraisers and Total Loss Evaluators in theAustin, TX Area.\nManages and is accountable for auto, property, and other claims operations member service employees who are responsible for serving our members, and providing appropriate solutions as they investigate, evaluate and negotiate the claim. Develops engaged employees through regular coaching and feedback to deliver business results. Executes process improvements, provides feedback on the process and leads organizational process changes. Drives execution of operational risk management, regulatory compliance training, policies and, procedures.\nThis is a field-based role in the Austin, TX area. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.\nWhat you'll do:\nInspects and reviews quality of claim files and provide feedback to employees as appropriate.\nResponsible for ongoing coaching and driving awareness so employees understand how their work and contributions support the overall claims and Enterprise strategies.\nProactively identifies opportunities to improve operational effectiveness, member experiences and processes providing feedback to internal partners.\nCreates conditions for success removes obstacles, leads and champions change.\nAchieves optimal productivity through managing workload volumes, staffing, training needs, and identifying and implementing appropriate solutions.\nResponsible for ongoing monitoring of work to ensure consistent execution of processes and adherence to guidelines and frameworks.\nHandles escalations and makes appropriate decisions based on the policy.\nFacilitates and guides employees through skill identification and developing for career progression Supports projects by serving as a subject matter expert.\nHires, develops, and coaches claims employees for results delivery.\nConsistently coaches employees on claims handling and identifies opportunities to improve overall process and engagement.\nEnsures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.\nWhat you have:\nBachelor's degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.\n6 years of progressive customer service, operational, military or leadership experience to include a minimum of 2 years of claims handling experience required with demonstrated proficiency.\n2 years of direct team lead, supervisory or management experience.\nExperience using and interpreting data to make decisions.\nDemonstrated leadership, initiative, customer service and/or claims handling skills.\nAcquisition and maintenance of applicable insurance adjuster license within 6 months time in role.\nWhat sets you apart:\nAuto Physical Damage experience, preferably for a larger, established insurance carrier with a field team.\nExperience in the automotive repair industry.\nHistory of developing and coaching a high performing team\nExperience building and growing a new team, with the ability to establish processes and influence team success.\nPrior Casualty or Liability Claims experience.\nAdvanced knowledge of auto claims contracts and interpretation of case law.\nStrong negotiation, investigation, and adjudication skills.\nGood computer skills to include working knowledge of CCC One estimating platforms, Total Loss evaluation systems, and Excel spreadsheets.\nCurrently possess, or have the ability to acquire and maintain, I-CAR Platinum class status.\nUS military experience gained through military service or gained as a military spouse / domestic partner.\nCompensation range: The salary range for this position: $103,450 - $197,730.\nUSAA does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
