Reporting directly to the CFO, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for the management, direction, and operation of a combination of general accounting activities including accounts payable, general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and related functions. Provides for the preparation of financial statements and reports in such areas as recording disbursements, expenses, and tax payments. Provides financial reports covering earnings, cash balances and other financial results. Plans and directs the development, implementation, operation and integrity of accounting systems and procedures.\nPosition Details:\nLocation: Northbrook, IL \nSchedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday on-site.\nCompensation: $120k-$135k per year.\nKey Responsibilities:\nOversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, and taxes\nHelp with quarterly and year-end financial audit activities and the annual corporate financial controls audit\nAssess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements\nPrepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness\nPerform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested\nSupervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions\nDevelop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships\nWork with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end\nAdditional duties as assigned\nRequirements\nBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA preferred.\n5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role, required \nThorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP\nExcellent verbal and written communication abilities across all level of an organization\nStrong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results\nKnowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills.
