These roles are permanent roles (salary based - not B2B) and the expectation is to be in our Warsaw office 3 days per week **\nOverview\nU.S. Bank is building a next-generation Core Banking platform powered by Thought Machine Vault, a modern cloud-native banking platform that will support the future of our deposit, lending, and banking services. We are seeking experienced DevOps Engineers who have operated within highly regulated financial services environments and can help design, build, automate, and operate critical banking infrastructure at scale.\nThis is a unique opportunity to be part of a greenfield transformation programme, helping establish the DevOps foundations, automation frameworks, observability standards, and operational excellence required for a modern cloud-native core banking ecosystem.\nThe ideal candidate will bring strong DevOps engineering expertise combined with experience supporting mission-critical banking, financial services, fintech, payments, or other highly regulated platforms where resilience, security, auditability, and customer availability are paramount.\nKey Accountabilities\nPlatform Engineering & Operations\nBuild, maintain and support the cloud infrastructure underpinning the Thought Machine core banking platform.\n\nDevelop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions to provision and manage highly resilient banking environments.\n\nEnsure platform availability, reliability, scalability and security across development, test, staging and production environments.\n\nMonitor critical banking services and proactively identify production issues before customer impact occurs.\n\nImplement automated remediation, self-healing and operational tooling to reduce manual intervention.\n\nParticipate in major incident management and root cause analysis activities.\n\nDevOps & Automation\nDesign and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support secure, repeatable and compliant software delivery.\n\nDrive automation across infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, testing and deployment processes.\n\nPartner closely with Engineering teams to improve developer experience and accelerate delivery while maintaining regulatory controls.\n\nPromote DevSecOps practices throughout the software development lifecycle.\n\nCore Banking Transformation\nCollaborate with Thought Machine architects, platform engineers, software engineers and business stakeholders to deliver the strategic core banking roadmap.\n\nSupport the deployment and ongoing operation of Vault products, APIs and banking services.\n\nContribute to environment design, release management, resilience testing and disaster recovery capabilities.\n\nHelp establish operational standards, observability frameworks and platform governance models for the new banking ecosystem.\n\nCompliance, Security & Risk\nEnsure infrastructure and deployment processes meet banking regulatory requirements and internal risk controls.\n\nSupport audit activities and maintain appropriate operational documentation.\n\nWork closely with Security, Risk and Compliance teams to implement controls around access management, logging, monitoring and change governance.\n\nEnsure all operational activities align with security, resilience and regulatory standards expected within financial services.\n\nRequired Skills & Experience\nMust Have\nExtensive DevOps engineering experience within banking, financial services, fintech, payments, or other highly regulated environments.\n\nStrong AWS cloud engineering experience.\n\nHands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar.\n\nExperience building, maintaining, and supporting enterprise CI/CD pipelines.\n\nStrong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar.\n\nExperience supporting highly available, mission-critical production environments with stringent uptime and resilience requirements.\n\nExperience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions such as Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, or Sumo Logic.\n\nStrong experience with containerized platforms including Kubernetes and Docker.\n\nExperience supporting and administering Apache Kafka platforms in production environments.\n\nUnderstanding of event-driven architectures and messaging patterns using Kafka for real-time transaction processing and system integration.\n\nExperience managing Kafka topics, partitions, replication, brokers, schema management, monitoring, performance tuning, and operational support.\n\nExperience working with distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.\n\nStrong understanding of production support, incident management, change management, and operational excellence practices.\n\nExperience working within Agile delivery teams.\n\nSkills
