Role & Responsibility:\nResponsible for designing, building, and maintaining the server-side logic, databases, and APIs that power the platform, ensuring reliability, performance, and with upstream and downstream systems, devices, and data sources.\nManage and optimise relational and non-relational databases, including schema design, query optimisation, and data integrity.\nDevelop data processing, transformation, and analytics services.\nImplement application monitoring, logging, and observability features to support system reliability and operational troubleshooting.\nTroubleshoot and resolve application and integration issues to ensure service reliability and performance.\nWork closely with frontend engineers, data teams, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.\nImplement authentication, authorisation, and other security best practices in backend systems.\nSupport testing, deployment, and production operations activities.\nWrite clean, well-documented, and testable code, and participate in peer code reviews.\nMaintain technical documentation and system design artefacts.\nParticipate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.\nCollaborate effectively with team members to deliver solutions and support knowledge sharing across the project team.\nExperience & Skills Needed\nAt least 2 years of experience in backend software development and building scalable, reliable applications.\n\nProficiency in at least one backend programming language: Python, Node.js, or Java.\n\nHands-on experience developing RESTful APIs, backend services, and integrating systems.\n\nExperience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including writing queries, basic query optimisation, and maintaining data integrity.\n\nBasic understanding of message queues, event-driven architectures, and system integration.\n\nFamiliarity with software design patterns, backend application architecture, and secure coding practices.\n\nHands-on experience developing or deploying applications on AWS.\n\nFamiliarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.\n\nExperience using GitLab, version control, and CI/CD pipelines, with an understanding of Agile software development practices.\n\nStrong debugging, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a development team.\n\nSkills\nsystems
