Job Summary:

UST is looking for a Senior+ Software Design & Development Engineerto design, develop, and maintain software solutions supporting Client validation labs and automation infrastructure. The role combines backend development, workflow automation, engineering tools, CI/CD integration, and technical leadership to improve lab productivity, scalability, and operational reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop Python applications, backend services, REST APIs, automation frameworks, and engineering tools.
  • Build monitoring utilities, databases, workflow automation, and integrations supporting validation environments.
  • Investigate complex interactions between software, hardware, operating systems, and lab infrastructure.
  • Develop scripts and automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Support CI/CD integration, deployment automation, and validation workflows.
  • Administer and enhance engineering tools used across validation labs.
  • Design reliable, maintainable, and scalable software solutions based on technical and operational requirements.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and develop recovery and preventive solutions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, system designs, and recovery procedures.
  • Collaborate with Client engineering, validation, infrastructure, and support teams.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to developers and lab technicians.
  • Identify automation opportunities and drive continuous improvement across lab operations.

    Required Skills & Experience:

    • Strong commercial experience in software design and development.
    • Advanced proficiency in Pythonand backend application development.
    • Experience developing REST APIs, databases, automation frameworks, and engineering tools.
    • Strong knowledge of software architecture, object-oriented design, and development best practices.
    • Experience with Linux, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting.
    • Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases.
    • Experience integrating software with hardware, infrastructure, or engineering environments.
    • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across software and system layers.
    • Experience designing reliable, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
    • Ability to provide technical leadership and guide less experienced team members.
    • Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

      Preferred Skills:

    • Experience supporting semiconductor, hardware validation, test, or engineering lab environments.
    • Knowledge of system monitoring, platform management, and infrastructure automation.
    • Experience with containers, deployment automation, and configuration management tools.
    • Understanding of operating systems, networking, firmware, and hardware diagnostics.
    • Experience developing tools for CI, regression testing, or validation workflows.

      Education:

      Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
