The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is a public-private partnership of preeminent semiconductor systems and defense electronics companies, national labs, and academic institutions. We are bringing advanced semiconductor 3DHI packaging/manufacturing back to the USA and looking for motivated individuals to join our team.

Purpose

Implement automation and workflows for custom integrated circuit design and 3DHI modeling across the wide range of EDAIC designtools. Develop and maintainautomation scripts in Linux environments, as well as Windows applications. Define design flows and provide user support for TIE's Assembly Design Kits (ADK's), while helping to ensure interoperability with our partner PDK's. Workcloselywith EDA vendors and our internal Design and Processes engineering teams to develop and define TIE's preferred tool sets that will enable 3DHI system design for our potential customer base and our internal design/modeling teams.Senior positions will help set TIE’s overall EDA/Design methodologies and processstrategies.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintainscripts/automationto assure compatibility and integration with wide range of EDA IC design/modeling tools to enable simulation/emulation, physical verification, parasitic extraction, and 3DHI modeling.
  • Help develop, deploy, and maintainTIE's ADK (Assembly Design Kits).
  • Maintain interoperability and compatibility of TIE’s design kits with our partner PDK’s, our internal PDK’s & ADK’s, and vendor EDA tool revisions.
  • Developing innovative physical design place & route methodologyand flow solutions to meet current and future design challenges.
  • Help establishand validatephysical design methodologies, flow automationand infrastructure for our internal 3D heterogenous micro-systemmodeling teams.
  • Automation of Test structure layoutsto help drivenext generation processing capabilitiesacrossa widerange of materials.
  • Support TIE's standard cell offerings and drive validation/simulation/emulation capability around those standard cells.
  • Facilitate and oversee project tapeouts.
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring and customer support for our internal design and 3D modeling teams.

Required Qualifications

  • CAD/EDA Engineer I: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or closely related field.
  • CAD/EDA Engineer II: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or closely related field, Minimum of threeyears industry experience.
  • Senior CAD/EDA Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or closely related field, Minimum of tenyears industry experience.
  • Experience in developing and customizing high performancesemiconductor IC design, layout,& validationflows using industry-standard EDA tools ( Cadence, Synopsys, Ansys, Siemens…)
  • Excellent UNIX and scripting programming skills (Perl, Python, TCLor similar languages).
  • Experience with software build automation and version control software.
  • Proficiencyin both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Prior CAD support experience in semiconductorIC design, including oversight of product tapeouts.
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication abilities, with the ability to contribute to company-wide consensus on design flows, tools, and methodologies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Relevant education and/or industry experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or advanced degree in semiconductor engineering fields such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science,orother relevant disciplines.
  • Previous experience in setting up and facilitating Design environments and maintaining design kit operability and coordination for cross functional design, modeling, and/orlayout teams.
  • Previous experience integrating PDK and/orADK's to enable 2.5D or 3D SoC's.
  • Experienceevaluating EDA tool capabilities driving EDA vendors to make tool improvements or enable new functions to meet advanced or unique design requirements.
  • Experience in a startup or research and development (R&D) environment.
