To learn more about what we offer, please refer to UW’s Benefits Summary.\nJOB TITLE:\nPainter\nJOB PURPOSE:\nUnder general supervision, perform journeyman-level painting and related work required for preservation, cleanliness, security and beautification of interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, structures, parking lots, and equipment.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nPrepare surfaces for paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer, or stain application using appropriate chemicals and tools.\nApply paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer and stain to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray guns.\nMix paint to specified colors and textures using oil, thinner, drying agents and various pigments and solvents.\nTape and texture drywall surfaces.\nErect and safely utilize scaffolding, ladders, or swings.\nClean brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other tools; clean work areas and installed glass.\nRead and interpret construction drawings and specifications to determine equipment and materials required and methods of installation to complete project.\nSUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:\nMay perform work in areas such as wallpapering, special effects painting, or specialized textures.\nCOMPETENCIES:\nAttention to Detail\nConsistency\nInitiative\nQuality Orientation\nSafety Awareness\nWork Tempo\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nEducation: High School Diploma or GED, plus completion of U.S. Department of Labor approved painting and drywall apprenticeship programs (4 years) which meets their requirements to attain journeyman-level status.\nExperience: 2 years painting experience including taping and texturing drywall at journeyman-level status as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor.\nRequired licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with theDriving for University Business SAP.\nDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n4 years of drywall finishing experience\nREQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS:\nComplete the online application.
