In this role, you will:\nWork at the heart of Vaisala’s strategic initiatives, shaping remote-service solutions across our product portfolio and future offering\nSolve meaningful software challenges involving telemetry, monitoring platforms, machine learning integration, and predictive maintenance for distributed environmental measurement assets\nBuild robust tools that make complex system behavior easier to understand, enable earlier issue detection, and support better operational decisions\nContribute across the solution lifecycle from defining capabilities to real-world deployment resulting in a tangible impact on reliability, performance, and customer value\nWhat's your role?\nAs a Software Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain production software and platform integrations that support monitoring, troubleshooting, predictive maintenance, and operational decision-making.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nDevelop and maintain monitoring platform integrations, services, and applications that support operational teams in understanding asset health, investigating issues, and making informed decisions\nBuild software capabilities that turn predictive maintenance concepts, exception classification logic, and machine learning outputs into practical operational workflows\nIntegrate asset, telemetry, operational and weather-related data sources into scalable monitoring views, dashboards, APIs, tools, and user-facing applications\nWork across the application stack, including backend services, APIs, data models, authentication, authorization, frontend workflows, and platform integrations\nCollaborate with data science, backend engineering, data architecture, service business, and operational stakeholders to translate business and technical needs into maintainable software solutions\nSupport production readiness and long-term maintainability through strong engineering practices, including testing, documentation, code review, observability, reliability, security, performance, and continuous improvement of development standards\nWhat will you bring?\nSolid experience designing, building, testing, and maintaining production software, ideally using Python, or comparable modern engineering technologies\nExperience building or integrating applications, APIs, services, dashboards, data-driven tools, or operational platforms, including the ability to translate API responses, telemetry streams, or model outputs into clear domain models and maintainable application logic\nFamiliarity with monitoring, observability, alerting, telemetry, or operational workflows; experience with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios or similar platforms would be beneficial\nInterest in MLOps, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, machine learning integration, or software systems that operationalize data science outputs; hands-on experience with model monitoring, ML pipelines, or experiment-to-production workflows would be a plus\nAbility to work across backend integration, data models, authentication, authorization, secure integration patterns, user-facing workflows, and production software security practices\nA disciplined engineering approach to testing, code quality, documentation, maintainability, accessibility, performance, security, observability, peer review, and continuous improvement, combined with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in English\nAdditional experience with AWS Cloud, on-prem infrastructure and hypervisors, near-real-time data technologies, environmental measurement systems, operational technology, industrial telemetry, or distributed asset fleets would be valuable\nCuriosity and a growth mindset to explore, learn, and apply AI tools in your daily work.
