Our mission is to make clean, high-temperature nuclear power scalable-unlocking abundant energy for industry, hydrogen, and next-generation manufacturing. We are a team of builders, engineers, and operators who believe nuclear energy should be fast to deploy, factory-made, and built for the real world. Our first pilot plant in Orangeville, Utah will demonstrate how advanced nuclear systems and fuel fabrication can power the future. Joining Valar Atomics means becoming part of a company where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level.\nThe Team \nAs part of the Engineering organization, Mechanical Engineering designs and develops the mechanicalsystems, components, and equipment that power Valar's advanced nuclear technologies. The teamensures designs are robust, manufacturable, and optimized for long-term performance.\nThe Role \nWe're looking for a Mechanisms Technician to build some of the most safety-critical hardware in our nuclear reactor. The systems you assemble will be sealed inside the reactor and can't be serviced once installed, so they have to be built right the first time, every time.\nThis is a first-of-a-kind role. You'll take a CAD model or drawing and a set of loose parts and turn them into a correct, working system, often with no existing procedure to follow. You'll work with pumps, turbines, gearboxes, large piping, pressure vessels, and other precision mechanical equipment. Working side by side with our engineers, you'll figure out how each system should be built, help write the procedures and manuals, and feed what you learn on the floor back into the design.\nThis role suits someone with an engineering mindset and real hands-on skill, who takes pride in precise work and doesn't mind getting their hands dirty.\nKey Responsibilities \nAssemble safety-critical mechanical systems for a nuclear reactor from CAD models, engineering drawings, and parts lists, including pumps, turbines, gearboxes, piping, and pressure vessels.\nBuild systems correctly the first time, with the understanding that installed hardware can't be serviced or repaired.\nWork with engineers to determine assembly sequences, tooling, and methods for first-of-a-kind hardware.\nHelp write and refine assembly procedures, work instructions, and system manuals based on hands-on builds.\nRecommend design changes that make parts easier to manufacture, assemble, and inspect.\nDocument every build in full, including torque values, measurements, fits, clearances, materials, and the standards followed.\nInspect parts and assemblies for conformance to drawings and specifications.\nFollow strict quality, cleanliness, and foreign material exclusion (FME) practices.\nTroubleshoot assembly problems and help engineering resolve nonconformances.\nBasic Qualifications \nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T.\nProficiency with precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and torque tools.\nWorking knowledge of fits, tolerances, fasteners, bearings, seals, and shaft alignment.\nClear, accurate written documentation skills.\nStrong attention to detail and a commitment to quality over speed.\nAbility to lift heavy components, work in a shop environment, and use rigging and lifting equipment safely.\nPreferred Skills and Experience \nExperience in nuclear, aerospace, naval, defense, or other high-reliability industries.\nFamiliarity with quality programs such as NQA-1, AS9100, or ISO 9001.\nExperience with ASME pressure vessel or piping codes (Section III or VIII, B31.1, B31.3).\nExperience building prototypes or first-article assemblies.\nExperience writing or contributing to assembly procedures or technical manuals.\nRigging, crane, or forklift certification.\nExperience with laser alignment, leak testing, or pressure testing.\nAssociate degree or certificate in mechanical technology, or equivalent military or trade training.\nAn engineering mindset, with the ability to understand why a system is designed the way it is and suggest practical improvements.\nWhat We Offer \nCompetitive base salary \nEquity ownership in a rapidly growing advanced energy company \nComprehensive medical benefits \nFree daily lunch and dinner provided onsite \nGenerous PPE stipend\nHigh-impact startup environment with significant ownership and autonomy \nOpportunities for rapid career growth and internal advancement \nDirect collaboration with experienced operators, engineers, and industry leaders \nThe opportunity to help build and scale transformative energy technology from the ground up\nEqual Employment Opportunity Statement\nValar Atomics is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status under applicable law.\nWe are committed to providing a workplace free of discrimination and harassment and will provide reasonable accommodation as required by law.\nApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder).\nSalary\n$40—$50 USD","description_format":"text","description_chars":5247,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"associate","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Nuclear Energy"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-09T16:54:48Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":60,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.601,"p_room":1,"age_days":9,"expected_fill_days":49,"reasons":["conf:2","stale_co","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-19T05:45:15Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/valar-atomics-mechanisms-technician","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/valar-atomics-mechanisms-technician.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-19T08:24:10Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":5560,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-20T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":19389},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=19389"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fvalar-atomics-mechanisms-technician"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fvalar-atomics-mechanisms-technician"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fvalar-atomics-mechanisms-technician"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/valar-atomics-mechanisms-technician\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fvalar-atomics-mechanisms-technician"}]}
