We need someone with the proven skills, competencies, and capacity to act as the technical bridge between design and construction - catching design integration issues before they become costly rework or schedule slippage - and will support mission-critical infrastructure construction projects.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nServe as the technical bridge between design, engineering, and construction, ensuring civil, architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, controls, and other design disciplines are fully coordinated and constructible prior to and during field execution\nOwn the design interface management process, tracking design deliverables against project milestones and flagging dependencies across disciplines\nIdentify and resolve conflicts and clashes between disciplines (e.g., mechanical and electrical) before they impact schedule or budget\nManage the RFI process between the design team, subcontractors, and site personnel, ensuring timely and accurate resolution\nReview and validate design packages for compliance with client specifications, code requirements, and equipment vendor data\nPartner with procurement to ensure long-lead equipment specifications remain aligned with the evolving design\nCoordinate design reviews at the 30%, 60%, and 90% submission stages\nManage version control and drawing issuance across multiple design consultants\nAct as an authority on design integration, catching issues early to prevent costly rework and schedule slippage\nComplete other design and project-related tasks assigned by the Director of Technical Services\nRequirements\nPost-Secondary education in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field\nExperience in design coordination, design integration, or construction management, ideally on industrial, or other large-scale infrastructure projects\nWorking knowledge of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and controls design disciplines\nExperience managing RFIs, multi-stage design reviews (30/60/90%), and drawing/version control processes across multiple consultants\nPreferred Skills / Qualifications\nExperience with design/BIM coordination tools (e.g., Navisworks, BIM 360, Revit)\nFamiliarity with data center design and construction standards\nExperience working directly with procurement on long-lead equipment specifications\nStrong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across design, construction, and procurement teams\nBenefits\nWe offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including a 5% RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.\nAbout our Business\nValard Construction is Canada’s premier utility contractor providing comprehensive EPC+ (engineering, procurement, construction) and maintenance services to utilities, independent power producers, mining, oil and gas industries and rural electric associations.
