This is a leadership role that will manage large Transmission projects in British Columbia, driving consistency in execution, financial performance, and client delivery. It plays a key role in strengthening project governance and ensuring alignment with Valard’s safety, quality, and operational standards.\nPlease Note: this position will be office based with up to 50% of the time spent on-site at active construction projects across British Columbia.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nLead projects, ensuring alignment to scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality expectations\nIn partnership with the site Construction leadership team, deliver project in accordance with Client and Company expectations\nManage and be accountable to the contract, while also issuing and managing subcontracts \nMentor and develop Assistant Project Managers / Project Coordinators to build leadership capability and bench strength\nOversee project financial performance including forecasting, margin management, and cash flow optimization\nGovern risk, change management, and contract administration to protect commercial position\nBuild and maintain strong client relationships, supporting strategic growth and repeat business\nCoordinate resources, equipment, and procurement strategies across projects to optimize efficiency\nDrive continuous improvement, lessons learned, and best practice sharing across projects\nEnsure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards across all work\nSupport bid reviews, constructability input, and alignment between estimating and execution\nRequirements\nPost-Secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or a related field\n10 years of progressive experience in utility or linear infrastructure construction\nProven experience managing large-scale, complex projects\nAdvanced understanding of contract management, project controls, and financial performance\nExperience leading teams and mentoring project staff\nPMP designation or equivalent\nKnowledge of commercial strategy, contract design, claims management, and dispute resolution\nUnderstanding of organizational risk management, insurance, and contractual risk mitigation\nPreferred Skills / Qualifications\nExperience in transmission, distribution, or substation projects\nStrong knowledge of scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project) and ERP systems\nBenefits\nThis position offers a base salary range of $120,000 - $190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.\nWe offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including an RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.\nAbout our Business\nValard Construction is Canada’s premier utility contractor providing comprehensive EPC+ (engineering, procurement, construction) and maintenance services to utilities, independent power producers, mining, oil and gas industries and rural electric associations.
