This includes inspecting civil and power line installations and effectively implementing Valard’s Quality Program and Quality Management System and compiling Progressive Turnover Packages.\nScope of the inspections includes, but may not be limited to: Earthworks, Grounding, Foundation Installation, Structural Steel Welding, Assembly and Erection, Stringing, Electrical Equipment Material and Installation, Cabling, Control Building Construction, Fencing and Commissioning.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nExecute quality assurance and quality control activities on the project site\nFollow Company Quality Manual, project specific Quality Plan and Inspection and Test Plans\nSupport all team members on Quality-related matters and ensure Valard meets the requirements of the applicable Contract, Client Standards, Provincial and Federal Regulations, and Code(s) of Construction\nLiaise with cross-functional groups within Valard, as well as the designated client and sub contractor quality personnel on quality matters for the project\nReview of all full and partial assemblies/installations for completeness and conformance to IFC drawings and applicable specifications\nFlag all deficiencies and monitor remedial actions\nIf able, repair minor deficiencies during inspections\nEnsure identifying and tracking any damaged or material issues\nWork with the materials coordinator (as applicable) to ensure nonconforming materials are repaired or replaced in accordance with IFC drawings\nMaintain and manage the Master Punch List\nAssemble the progressive turnover packages\nRequirements\nHigh School Diploma\nStrong background reading and interpreting technical documents such as engineering codes, standards, specifications and construction drawings\nExperience monitoring civil, structural and electrical installations\nKnowledge of construction Quality Management Systems and typical project processes (RFIs, Change Management, Field Instructions, NCRs, Walk-Downs, Commissioning, Turnover, As-Built drawings)\nAdvanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat\nPreferred Skills / Qualifications\nP.Eng. or EIT (an excellent start for a recent university graduate)\nCCIL tech certificate (lab, field or both)\nApprenticeship program or other certifications (such as CET), particularly Power Line or Electrical related\nExperience in power line or electrical projects; power systems experience (Distribution, Substation and/or Transmission)\nConcrete, piling and earthworks experience\nExperience using Bluebeam Revu and SharePoint\nBenefits\nWe also offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including a 5% RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.\nAbout our Business\nValard Construction is Canada’s premier utility contractor providing comprehensive EPC+ (engineering, procurement, construction) and maintenance services to utilities, independent power producers, mining, oil and gas industries and rural electric associations.
