We invite you to use your skills with us and contribute to something meaningful and enduring.\nThe Opportunity\nWe are seeking a Specialist Auditor\nThis is a permanent position with a global scope supporting Vale Base Metals operations in Canada, Brazil, and other international locations based in Toronto.\nAbout You\nThe Auditor is responsible for conducting independent and objective audit examinations to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes across Vale's operations in Canada and globally. The role involves performing audits in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Standards, Vale's Internal Audit Policy, and the highest ethical and professional standards.\nThis position supports the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, Fiscal Council, Executive Leadership, and Management by providing assurance and insights regarding the effectiveness of operational, financial, compliance, environmental, and governance controls. The Auditor contributes to improving business performance while safeguarding Vale's assets, people, reputation, and environment.\nIn this role, you will:\nConduct risk-based audits of operational, financial, compliance, and governance processes across Vale's business operations.\nLead audit engagements, when required.\nAssess the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls, risk management practices, and governance frameworks to identify opportunities for improvement.\nEvaluate compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, contracts, and internal standards.\nVerify the integrity, reliability, and accuracy of operational and financial information used for decision-making.\nContribute to the protection and preservation of Vale's assets, employees, and environmental resources through comprehensive audit assessments.\nExecute audit engagements in accordance with established audit programs, professional auditing standards, internal methodologies, and ethical principles.\nPrepare clear, concise, and well-supported audit reports that accurately communicate observations, risks, recommendations, and conclusions.\nPresent audit findings and recommendations to management and senior leadership. \nMaintain complete and accurate audit documentation and working papers while ensuring appropriate confidentiality and information security.\nSupport investigations related to allegations received through the Whistleblower and Reporting Channels, including suspected fraud, misconduct, or internal control deficiencies.\nCollaborate with stakeholders across the organization's three lines of defense to strengthen risk management and control processes.\nSupport internal audit activities related to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance testing and certification requirements.\nParticipate in departmental initiatives, including the development and enhancement of audit methodologies, procedures, work programs, reporting tools, analytics, and performance indicators.\nProvide advisory and consulting services when appropriate, while maintaining the independence required of the Internal Audit function.\nStay informed of evolving audit standards, industry best practices, regulations, and emerging risks relevant to Vale's operations.\nExperience\nMinimum 5+ years of experience in Internal Audit. \nProfessional certifications such as CIA, CPA, CISA, CRMA, CFA, or equivalent are preferred. \nFluent in Portuguese language is considered an asset.\nBachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. \nAdvanced education such as an MBA, Postgraduate Degree, Master's Degree is considered an asset. \nStrong knowledge of internal auditing standards, internal controls, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, SOX compliance, and fraud investigations. \nExperience conducting operational, financial, compliance, and risk-based audits in complex organizations. \nExcellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, report-writing, and stakeholder management skills. \nAbility to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively with diverse teams across multiple geographies and time zones. \nWillingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, including remote operational sites, as required.\nWhat we Offer\nCompetitive compensation including a variable annual incentive plan\nParticipation in a competitive Defined Contribution Pension package\nComprehensive benefits package (company paid core coverage, health and dental coverage, flex accounts, disability plans, and optional insurances)\nLeave for all of life’s reasons (vacation, personal, sick, parental) \nWork culture dedicated to safety, diversity & inclusion, and career growth\nEmployee Family Assistance Program\nVirtual Healthcare online\nOnline training and career development opportunities\nWhy Toronto\nToronto, Canada’s largest city and financial hub, is a center of innovation, commerce, and culture.
