This role assists with the assembly, troubleshooting, modification, and testing of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems. The successful candidate will support engineers in developing new products, improving existing designs, and maintaining laboratory and test equipment.\nThis position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving real-world technical problems, building and modifying equipment, and seeing projects progress from concept through testing and validation. The candidate should be comfortable working independently on assigned projects while also contributing as part of a collaborative engineering team when required.\nEssential Responsibilities\nSet up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory and test equipment.\nAssemble, modify, repair, and test mechanical and electromechanical systems.\nAssist engineers with prototype development, product testing, validation, and continuous improvement projects.\nDevelop and execute test procedures while collecting, analyzing, and documenting test data.\nSupport PLC-based control systems, instrumentation, sensors, and automated test equipment.\nAssist in the development and maintenance of National Instruments LabVIEW applications and data acquisition systems.\nPerform machining, fabrication, and modification of test fixtures, tooling, and prototype components.\nSupport programming and integration of control systems, sensors, and data acquisition hardware.\nMaintain accurate test records, reports, drawings, and technical documentation.\nCollaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations personnel to resolve technical issues and support project objectives.\nMaintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory and shop environment.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nRequired Qualifications\nAssociate degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred.\nStrong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.\nAbility to read engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.\nBasic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.\nStrong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with PLC programming and industrial control systems.\nFamiliarity with National Instruments LabVIEW and data acquisition systems.\nExperience with machining, fabrication, or operation of manual and CNC equipment.\nBasic programming knowledge (Python, C#, LabVIEW, Ladder Logic, or similar).\nExperience with instrumentation, sensors, electrical wiring, and automation equipment.\nExperience using hand tools, power tools, machine tools, and test equipment.\nHands-on experience through technical school projects, co-ops, internships, robotics teams, military technical training, makerspaces, automotive projects, or personal technical projects.\nIdeal Candidate\nThe ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys hands-on technical work and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get dirty when needed. They take pride in building, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving equipment. They are equally comfortable working independently on assigned tasks and collaborating with engineers and fellow technicians to achieve team goals.
