{"id":2167001,"url":"https://alion.io/job/valmet-purchase-coordinator","title":"Purchase Coordinator","company":{"id":7707,"name":"Valmet","domain":"valmet.com","url":"https://alion.io/company/valmet","size_band":"5000+","is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"Workday","truth_index":{"grade":"A","score":98,"open_postings":41,"ghost_share":0,"stale_share":0.195,"repost_share":0.171,"time_to_fill_p50_days":18,"computed_at":"2026-10-12T06:55:09Z"}},"role":"Administrative","role_family":"Administrative","seniority":"middle","employment_type":"full_time","work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["Pune, India"],"countries":["IN"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":null,"salary_estimate":{"min_usd":7500,"max_usd":16000,"period":"year","method":"global_role_cell_scaled_by_country","sample_n":2161},"experience_years_min":3,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[{"name":"Microsoft Office","optional":false},{"name":"Outlook","optional":false},{"name":"Power BI","optional":false}],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-10-09T10:31:16Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-10-09","last_verified_at":"2026-10-12T16:23:58Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":3,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":3},"description":"Purchase Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the end-to-end flow of purchase orders and materials to ensure timely delivery to internal locations and customers.\nThe role acts as a central coordination point between Procurement, Logistics, Material Management , Sales, Customer Service, Global Supply functions and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring timely actions, clear visibility, and proactive resolution of potential delivery risks.\nResponsibilities:\nMonitor and coordinate the end-to-end process from Purchase Requisition (PR) creation to Purchase Order (PO) issuance and final delivery.\nTrack open Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders, ensuring timely processing and order placement through close coordination with Procurement teams.\nMonitor order status, supplier commitments, and delivery schedules to maintain visibility of critical and time-sensitive orders.\nIdentify potential delivery risks, bottlenecks, and delays, and coordinate corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.\nCoordinate with Procurement, Logistics, Warehouse, and Material Management teams to ensure smooth material movement across suppliers, warehouses, internal locations, and customer sites.\nTrack shipments and material movements to ensure on-time delivery to the required destination.\nCollaborate with Sales and Customer Service teams to support customer delivery commitments and priority orders.\nAct as the central coordination point between Procurement, Logistics, Material Management, Sales, Customer Service, Quality, and other cross-functional teams.\nEscalate critical supply, delivery, and operational issues to management and relevant stakeholders when required.\nMaintain accurate order, shipment, and delivery status information in ERP systems and tracking tools.\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives to enhance order visibility, process efficiency, coordination, and on-time delivery performance.\nEnsure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational processes while managing activities across national, regional, or global operations.\nSkills and Knowledge Required:\nBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.\nMinimum 3 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, Order Management, Materials Management, or a similar coordination role.\nExperience working in an international industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred.\nStrong understanding of technical materials, spare parts procurement, purchase order processes, and end-to-end supply chain operations.\nKnowledge of logistics, warehousing, inventory management, and material flow processes.\nStrong coordination, planning, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.\nExcellent communication and follow-up abilities with the capability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.\nExperience working with ERP systems; knowledge of Infor LN or similar ERP platforms is an advantage.\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.\nFluent written and verbal communication skills in English.\nProactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.\nAbility to work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet challenging delivery timelines.\nStrong attention to detail, ownership, and ability to identify, coordinate, and escalate risks in a timely manner.\nAbility to build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, customers, and external partners.\nKey Stakeholders:\nParts Procurement Team\nSales & Customer Service Teams\nLogistics & Material Management Teams\nGlobal Supply Functions\nQuality Department\nSuppliers and Customers\nExternal Authorities and Service Providers\nTo succeed in this role\nTo succeed in this role, you will need a combination of technical service expertise, analytical capabilities, and strong customer-facing skills. You should be comfortable working independently to resolve day-to-day service challenges while collaborating with stakeholders to deliver operational and business improvements.
