We are looking for candidates based around London and the South of England, ideally south of Birmingham.\nIn this customer-facing role, you will deliver technical support, maintenance, project work, and emergency services for automation systems across industries such as pulp and paper, energy, wastewater, minerals, and marine. Reporting to the Area Service Manager, you will be based in Southern England with flexible remote working options.\nYour Responsibilities\nDeliver automation service projects and support activities for Valmet's installed customer base across the UK and Ireland.\nProvide routine and on-demand customer support, including software development, system maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.\nMaintain, repair, and optimize industrial automation, instrumentation, and control systems to ensure reliable customer operations.\nParticipate in an out-of-hours on-call support rota, providing emergency technical assistance when required.\nSupport project execution, upgrades, maintenance shutdowns, and breakdown services across multiple industrial sectors.\nIdentify opportunities to improve customer processes and recommend appropriate Valmet solutions, products, and services.\nEnsure all work is performed in accordance with regulatory requirements and Valmet's health, safety, and environmental standards.\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with customers while representing Valmet professionally at all times.\nExpectations for You\nHNC/HND or higher qualification in Electrical, Automation, Instrumentation, Control, or a related Engineering discipline.\nExperience working with industrial automation systems such as DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, or safety systems.\nAbility to diagnose, maintain, and repair electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.\nStrong planning and organizational skills with the ability to independently manage service and project activities.\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with customers and colleagues at all levels.\nAbility to work autonomously while contributing positively as part of a wider customer support team.\nExperience producing accurate technical reports, project documentation, and service records.\nWillingness to travel throughout the UK and occasionally within Europe as required.\nFluent written and spoken English.\nIt Would Be Beneficial If You Have\nExperience with Valmet DNA DCS and/or QCS systems.\nExperience working with online and offline analyzers.\nExperience with HIMA Safety Instrumented Systems.\nA Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.\nExperience identifying business opportunities and developing customer relationships within industrial environments.\nTo Succeed in This Role\nYou are a proactive and customer-focused engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges in complex industrial environments.
