Apply now.\nLocation: Chattanooga, TN\nA Brief Summary of This Position:\nThe Associate Engineer supports the structural analysis and design of standard utility products for the Valmont Utility Division. This role is responsible for engineering designs used in quotations, customer orders, and manufacturing, ensuring products meet customer specifications, safety standards, and cost objectives. Working closely with senior engineers, drafting, sales, and manufacturing teams, the Associate Engineer helps design structures that support electrical power transmission and distribution systems while managing assigned project timelines and engineering deliverables.\nKey Responsibilities:\nPerform structural analysis and design using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other engineering software.\nApply engineering principles, standard procedures, and industry codes to complete design assignments.\nInterpret customer specifications and translate requirements into practical, manufacturable designs.\nProvide engineering support to drafting, sales, quoting, and project teams.\nCommunicate technical information to internal stakeholders and customers.\nAssist with engineering-related pricing and quotation activities.\nCollaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs can be produced efficiently and cost-effectively.\nIdentify opportunities to improve engineering processes and team effectiveness.\n\nAdditional Details:\nReports to the Site Engineering Supervisor/Manager.\nReceives guidance and design review from senior engineers during training and development.\nSupports drafters, project administrators, and other internal teams in reviewing and interpreting designs.\nHas limited direct customer interaction through phone, email, and occasional site visits.\nCoordinates daily work with team members to meet project milestones and optimize workflow.\nRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate:\nBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or other related engineering field with 0-2 years of experience\nTechnical competence in structural engineering\nStrengths in interpersonal skills, including the ability to adapt and professionally communicate with a variety of people\nDemonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Products including Excel, Word, and Outlook\nAbility to solve complex problems with high attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment subject to specific deadlines\nHighly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:\nEngineer-in-Training Certificate\nCAD skills\nKnowledge or understanding of computer programming\nThe ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner and be an integral part of a team environment\nBenefits\nValmont offers employees and their families a comprehensive Total Wellbeing benefit package to ensure their individual and family’s overall wellness needs are met.
